We present in this supplement to our manuscript entitled, “Static and Dynamic Wavelength Routing via the Gradient Optical Force,” the detailed analysis related to the cavity response in the pump-probe scheme, the anti-crossing of cavity modes, and the calibration of thermo-optic and thermo-mechanical contributions to the cavity resonance tuning.

The design of a melt synthesis of the first air-stable formulation of the metastable form III of paracetamol is derived from thermo-spectroscopic and thermo-diffraction experiments. Melt crystallisation in the presence of β-1,4-saccharides produces form III selectively and the excipients appear to act as stabilising 'active' templates of the metastable polymorph.

this research develops thermo-elastic analysis of a functionally graded cylinder under thermo-mechanical loadings. heat conduction equation in cylindrical coordinate system is solved. thermal conductivity coefficient is graded along the radial direction. by considering a symmetric distribution of temperature, loading and boundary conditions, strain-displacement and stress-strain relations can b...

Crop production is highly sensitive to elevated temperatures. A rise of a few degrees above the optimum growing temperature can lead to a dramatic yield loss. A predicted increase of 1-3 degrees in the twenty first century urges breeders to develop thermo-tolerant crops which are tolerant to high temperatures. Breeding for thermo-tolerance is a challenge due to the low heritability of this trai...

Thermo-acoustic tomography is a hybrid medical imaging modality that aims to combine the good optical contrast observed in tissues with the good resolution properties of ultrasounds. Thermo-acoustic imaging may be decomposed into two steps. The first step aims at reconstructing an amount of electromagnetic radiation absorbed by tissues from boundary measurements of ultrasounds generated by the ...

The effects of ultrasonic and thermo-chemical pre-treatments on the methane production potential of anaerobic co-digestion with synthetic kitchen waste (KW) or fat, oil and grease (FOG) were investigated. Non-linear regressions were fitted to accurately assess and compare the methane production from co-digestion under the various pre-treatment conditions and to achieve representative simulation...

Woven fabrics prove to be a very convenient fibre reinforcement when prepreg layers have to be draped on to double curvature moulds. The process of draping causes the angle between the warp and weft yarns to vary over the product with this double curvature. As a result, the thermomechanical properties of the fibre reinforced composite material show a corresponding distribution. These thermo-ela...

The current global conditions provide the pulp mill new opportunities beyond the traditional production of cellulose. Due to stricter environmental regulations, volatility of oil price, energy policies and also the global competitiveness, the challenges for the pulp industry are many. They range from replacing fossil fuels with renewable energy sources to the export of biofuels, chemicals and b...

In 1995, De Vos introduced a thermoeconomical analysis for heat engines working in finite time. This analysis was made by the maximization of a benefit function defined as the ratio of the power output and the total costs which are associated to the investment and the fuel consumption. The De Vos methodology has been applied to several heat engine models working at different regimes of performa...
