In this study we propose an algorithm for enhancement of speech degraded by additive broad-band noise. The algorithm represents speech using a sinusoidal model, where model parameters are estimated iteratively. In order to ensure speech-like characteristics observed in clean speech, the model parameters are restricted to satisfy certain smoothness constraints. The algorithm is evaluated using s...

Abstract This article conducts an interdisciplinary analysis of a corpus consisting ten cases from the European Court Human Rights. The selected range 2004 to 2022 and engage with nexus between hate speech humorous expression, spanning across various forms humor (from political satire disaster jokes) different media verbal jokes cartoons). Building on insights linguistics, semiotics literary th...

A research team headed by Sargent probed children’s responses to televised fast-food ads. The study tested Children’s Advertising Review Unit (CARU) advertising self-regulation guidelines, in which the Better Business Bureau “evaluates child-directed advertising and promotional material in all media to advance truthfulness, accuracy and consistency with its Self-Regulatory Program for Children’...

Abstract We argue that the representational primes of human phonological faculty, so-called distinctive features, are innate and substance-free. Our arguments for innateness features built on traditional novel logical arguments, experimental evidence accumulating over recent decades, somewhat detailed proposals about their neurobiological reality. As symbols in brain, substance-free, is, they d...

fast and holistic access to the patients’ clinical record is a major requirement of modern medical decision support systems (dss). while electronic health records (ehrs) have replaced the traditional paper-based records in most healthcare organization, the data entry into these systems remains largely manual. speech recognition technology promises substitution of the more convenient speech-base...

Integration of two stochastic context-free grammars can be useful in two pass approaches used, for example, in speech recognition and understanding. Based on an algorithm proposed by [Nederhof and Satta, 2002] for the non-probabilistic case, left-to-right strategies for the search for the best solution based on CKY and Earley parsers are discussed. The restriction that one of the two grammars m...

We propose a class trigram language model in which each class is specified by a stochastic context-free grammar. We show how to estimate the parameters of the model, and how to smooth these estimates. We present experimental perplexity and speech recognition results.
