We derive a universality result for the fermionic contribution to the one loop vacuum polarisation in Lattice QCD. This leads in turn to a universality result for the fermionic contribution to the leading term in the weak coupling expansion of the Lattice QCD β-function. A general formula for the fermionic contribution to the ratio of lattice and continuum Λ-parameters is also obtained.

A major conceptual step forward in understanding the logical architecture of living systems was advanced by von Neumann with his universal constructor, a physical device capable of self-reproduction. A necessary condition for a universal constructor to exist is that the laws of physics permit physical universality, such that any transformation (consistent with the laws of physics and availabili...

Since Darwin's seminal works, the universality of facial expressions of emotion has remained one of the longest standing debates in the biological and social sciences. Briefly stated, the universality hypothesis claims that all humans communicate six basic internal emotional states (happy, surprise, fear, disgust, anger, and sad) using the same facial movements by virtue of their biological and...

the purpose of the present paper is to survey and analyse the concept and significance of religious tolerance and universal brotherhood in imam ali’s teachings, especially his nahj al balagha. islam admits the freedom of thought, free expression of opinions, and exercise of independent judgment in religious matters. it also acknowledges tolerance among religions, religious communities, nations ...

Using both mean field renormalization group (MFRG) and Surface-Bulk MFRG (SBMFRG), we study the critical behavior of the classical Heisenberg and XY models on a simple cubic lattice. Critical temperatures as well as critical exponents, characteristic the universality classes of these two models were calculated, analytically for1, 2, 3 and 4 spin clusters. The results are in good agreement with...

Amorphous solids, as well as many disordered lattices, display remarkable universality in their low temperature acoustic properties. This universality is attributed to the attenuation of phonons by tunneling two-level systems (TLSs), facilitated by the interaction of the TLSs with the phonon field. TLS-phonon interaction also mediates effective TLS-TLS interactions, which dictates the existence...

The effects of bond randomness on the universality aspects of the simple cubic lattice ferromagnetic Blume-Capel model are discussed. The system is studied numerically in both its first- and second-order phase transition regimes by a comprehensive finite-size scaling analysis. We find that our data for the second-order phase transition, emerging under random bonds from the second-order regime o...

In this chapter we review the quantum phase transitions and transport properties of low-capacitance Josephson junction arrays. We will present the models and introduce the relevant topological excitations. The phase diagram depends in a very rich way on various control parameters. We will discuss the universality or or absence of universality of the transport properties at the quantum phase tra...

This paper presents a 1D intrinsically universal cellular automaton with four states for a first neighbors neighborhood, improving on the previous lower bound and getting nearer to the Turing universality bound. Intrinsic universality is discussed. Construction and proof rely on a combination of bulking techniques with programming using particles and collisions.

We consider numerically the crossover scaling behavior from the directed percolation universality class to the compact directed percolation universality class within the one-dimensional Domany-Kinzel cellular automaton. Our results are compared to those of a recently performed field theoretical approach. In particular, the value of the crossover exponent φ = 2 is confirmed.
