The objective of the present work was to investigate the effect of selected organic tin compounds and potassium chloride (used as a reference substance) on the trans-membrane electric voltage and electric resistance of model membranes, the latter being nitrocellulose filters impregnated with butylene ester of lauric acid. The increasing KCl concentration (in the measurement chambers) caused a r...

The interaction between the telegraph noise and background voltage fluctuations in the current induced dissipative state of high-Tc BiSrCaCuO thin films has been investigated. Experimental time records of the voltage drop across current biased thin film strips show markedly different background noise traces in the up and down telegraph states. Detailed analysis demonstrates that fluctuations ar...

The efficiency of wireless power transfer is sensitive to the horizontal and vertical distances between the transmitter and receiver coils due to the magnetic coupling change. To address the output voltage variation and efficiency drop caused by misalignment, a uniform voltage gain frequency control is implemented to improve the power delivery and efficiency of wireless power transfer under mis...

To achieve accurate reactive power and harmonic currents sharing among inverter interfaced distributed generation (DG) units in islanded microgrids, a hierarchal control scheme consisting of primary and secondary levels based on instantaneous circulating currents is proposed in this paper. Firstly, fundamental and main harmonic components of each inverter output current are extracted at the pri...

A new electromagnetic energy harvester for harnessing energy from flow induced vibration is developed. It converts flow energy into electrical energy by fluid flow and electromagnetic induction. A finite element model for estimation of the generated voltage of the energy harvester is developed. A prototype of the energy harvester is fabricated and tested. Experimental results show that an outpu...

The resistance in series with the membrane capacitance in the giant axon of the squid Loligo pealei was measured using potentiometric probes that exhibit absorbance changes proportional to the voltage across the plasma membrane proper. The method relies upon the fact that a voltage drop across the series resistance produces a deviation in the true transmembrane voltage from that imposed by a vo...

This article deals with the influence of distributed generation (DG) on distribution line losses with respect to voltage profile. The article focuses on the development of a control strategy to minimize the grid losses and assure fairness regarding reactive power contributions. As retail customers typically have no choice where they are located along a feeder, it seems unfair that only some of ...

© 2010 ETRI Journal, Volume 32, Number 4, August 2010 In this paper, we present a low-voltage low-dropout voltage regulator (LDO) for a system-on-chip (SoC) application which, exploiting the multiplication of the Miller effect through the use of a current amplifier, is frequency compensated up to 1-nF capacitive load. The topology and the strategy adopted to design the LDO and the related compe...

Herein, we present the design technique of a resonant rectifier for piezoelectric (PE) energy harvesting. We propose two diode equivalents to reduce the voltage drop in the rectifier operation, a minuscule-drop-diode equivalent (MDDE) and a low-drop-diode equivalent (LDDE). The diode equivalents are embedded in resonant rectifier integrated circuits (ICs), which use symmetric bias-flip to reduc...

This paper addresses the device physics of a novel vertical power MOSFET through detailed TCAD simulation. The simulated I-V and C-V characteristics match well with the measured data. The bias dependence of electrical potential near the recess trench is identified as the cause of a sharp drop in output capacitance against drain voltage. Index Terms — power MOSFET, output capacitance, TCAD
