Fiber reinforced Polymers (FRP) have widely used for the purposes of enhances strength and ductility of concrete columns. Proper design of such hybrid columns, however, requires a better recognition of the behavior of concrete columns confined with FRP. In this paper, the influence of FRP thickness, concrete compressive strength, and column size on the performance of eccentrically loaded reacti...
The objective of this study was to investigate the effectiveness different confinement materials in strengthening geopolymer concrete (GP) columns subjected axial compression loading. This research encompassed both experimental and numerical analyses. phase involved testing seven circular GP columns, while developing 3D finite element (FE) models using ABAQUS software. primary focus assess impa...
The objective of this paper is to provide a brief overview of damage as observed immediately following the earthquake. Detailed studies of structural seismic performance, conducted in the time elapsed since August 1999, are not the subject of this paper, but rather the object of other papers presented in this Special Issue of the Journal. Damage to reinforced concrete, masonry, and steel struct...
This paper presents research documenting the local damage progression in rectangular concrete-filled steel tube beam-columns and connections in composite frames. Local damage is quantified through the development of damage indices based upon results of worldwide experiments. A fiber-based finite element formulation is also introduced for assessing global capacity and seismic demand.
Current design practice of concrete-filled steel tube (CFST) columns uses different formulas for different section profiles to predict the axial load bearing capacity. It has always been a challenge and practically important issue for researchers and design engineers who want to find a unified formula that can be used in the design of the columns with various sections, including solid, hollow, ...
Thin-walled open cross-sections are commonly used in steel storage pallet rack structures. In some cases, sections employed as beam members. These members usually have weld spots along their length order to reduce the distortional deformation under a flexural load. On other hand, typically connected columns by means of claws, which exhibit nonlinear moment - rotation relationship. two character...

This paper aims to experimentally study the fire performance of steel-reinforced concrete-filled steel tubular (SRCFST) columns without protection. Eight SRCFST specimens with cruciform section profiled were tested under ISO-834 standard fire. The various test parameters including cross-section type tube (circular or square), load ratio and eccentricity considered discussed. temperature distrib...
The traditional precast concrete column-to-column connections are widely used in the prefabricated frame structures China. However, many studies on joints have demonstrated their complex forms and poor construction efficiency. To overcome these shortcomings, a new type column–column connection with steel plate hoop bolts was designed proposed. In order to reveal seismic performance of this conn...
