Recommended by Satya Dharanipragada Wavelet denoising is commonly used for speech enhancement because of the simplicity of its implementation. However, the conventional methods generate the presence of musical residual noise while thresholding the background noise. The unvoiced components of speech are often eliminated from this method. In this paper, a novel algorithm of wavelet coefficient th...

the mixture of natural and artificial seismic sources with random distributions cause diffuse wave field with random amplitudes and phases called noise. when noise is analyzed in a long-term process, it contains surface waves which are spread in all directions. thus, ambient noise contains data relevant to the surface waves. in recent years, as broadband seismic networks have been distributed v...

In this correspondence, we investigate whether musical noise, which often exists in speech enhanced using spectral subtraction, can be suppressed. Via exploiting some specific characteristics of human speech, we propose a method that can effectively suppress musical noise without noticeable effect on speech intelligibility. Performance assessments confirm that our method is effective.

conclusions the adoption of 85 dba as the permissible exposure limit has preserved hearing threshold level among participants at 3000 hz compared to those who embraced 90 dba. patients and methods this is an intervention study done on two automobile factories. there were 203 employees exposed to noise levels beyond the action level. hearing protection devices were distributed to reduce noise le...

Bearings play an important role in mechanical transmission. Many disasters are due to bearing faults. This has driven the need in research for early bearing fault detection. The goal is to extract the periodic impulse signals from the very noise signal which are indicative of a bearing fault. This is done by enhancing impulsive signals while suppressing other signals. This paper used a new meth...

Cooperation in the evolutionary snowdrift game with a self-questioning updating mechanism is studied on annealed and quenched small-world networks with directed couplings. Around the payoff parameter value r = 0.5, we find a size-invariant symmetrical cooperation effect. While generally suppressing cooperation for r > 0.5 payoffs, rewired networks facilitated cooperative behavior for r < 0.5. F...

Because the underlying physiology of pathological tremor in a Parkinson's patient is not well understood, the existing physical and drug therapies have not been successful in tremor treatment. Different mathematical modeling of such vibration has been introduced to investigate the problem and reduce the existing vibration. Most of the models have represented the induced vibration as a sinusoida...

This thesis focuses on denoising of positron emission tomography (PET) data. Cardiac PET scans generated using a rubidium-82 radiotracer are a convenient, non– invasive method of diagnosing heart disease, but suffer from a high degree of noise. Denoising methods based on the wavelet transform are capable of outperforming existing clinical methods due to their ability to better preserve detail w...
