A significant gap exists between genetics-based investigations of polyketide synthase (PKS) and nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) biosynthetic pathways and our understanding of their regulation, interaction, and activity in living systems. To help bridge this gap, here we present an orthogonal active site identification system (OASIS) for the proteomic identification and analysis of PKS/NR...

In this work we study the effect of some electrical prosperities on synthetic rubber reinforced with carbon black diluted in heptanes with concentrations from 0.2% gm/mole to 2.0% gm/ mole in temperatures range (100, 150, 200, 250, 300) C associated with amount weight of black carbon 5wt% added to the diluted rubber. The results of electrical properties measurement of Buna rubber reinforced wit...

Sequence data arising from an increasing number of partial and complete genome projects is revealing the presence of the polyketide synthase (PKS) family of genes not only in microbes and fungi but also in plants and other eukaryotes. PKSs are huge multifunctional megasynthases that use a variety of biosynthetic paradigms to generate enormously diverse arrays of polyketide products that posses ...

The interplay between Kondo screening, indirect magnetic interaction and geometrical frustration is studied in the two-dimensional Kondo-necklace model on triangular lattice. Using infinite projected entangled pair states (iPEPS), we compute ground state as a function of antiferromagnetic local $J_K$ Ising-type direct spin-spin $I_z$ . As opposed to previous studies, do not find partial screeni...

We report the discovery by the Large Area Telescope (LAT) onboard the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope of high-energy γ−ray (GeV) emission from the flat-spectrum radio quasar PKS 1454-354 (z = 1.424). On 4 September 2008 the source rose to a peak flux of (3.5±0.7)×10 ph cm s (E > 100 MeV) on a time scale of hours and then slowly dropped over the following two days. No significant spectral change...

The IUE contribution to the understanding of the blazar phenomenon has been of fundamental importance. Here I review the progress obtained with the latest multifrequency campaigns performed with IUE on two prototype objects, the BL Lac PKS 2155-304 and the highly polarized, superluminal quasar 3C 279.

This research aimed at ascertaining the performance of raw dura species Palm Kernel Shells (PKS) in comparison to a different PKS (tenera) as replacement for known aggregates pervious lightweight concrete. Using limestones aggregates, control concrete was batched, and relevant tests were conducted. Major conducted on composites concerned compressive, tensile, flexural strength, well permeabilit...

We observed three AGN from the Parkes Half-Jansky Flat-spectrum Sample at nearinfrared (NIR) wavelengths to search for micro-variability. In one source, the blue quasar PKS 2243−123, good evidence for NIR micro-variability was found. In the other two sources, PKS 2240−260 and PKS 2233−148, both BL Lacertae objects, no such evidence of variability was detected. We discuss the implications of the...

Chalcomycin, a 16-membered macrolide antibiotic made by the bacterium Streptomyces bikiniensis, contains a 2,3-trans double bond and the neutral sugar D-chalcose in place of the amino sugar mycaminose found in most other 16-membered macrolides. Degenerate polyketide synthase (PKS)-specific primers were used to amplify DNA fragments from S. bikiniensis with very high identity to a unique ketosyn...

Polyketides produced by bacteria and fungi represent an extremely rich source of biologically active compounds that find wide-ranging applications as antibiotics, immunosuppresants, antitumor agents, and antiparasitic agents. The striking structural diversity of polyketides that gives rise to these wide-ranging applications is dictated both by the polyketide synthase (PKS) responsible for assem...
