Roseovarius tolerans EL-164 is a member of the Roseobacter clade, a group of marine bacteria within the Alphaproteobacteria. It produces different N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) autoinducers as well as five AHL-related but functionally different compounds, the N-acylated alanine methyl esters. The size of the draft genome is 3,749,755 bp.

background: n-acyl homoserine lactone (ahl) is found to be the main component of quorum sensing (qs) in gram-negative bacteria and plays an important role in biofilm formation. little information is available regarding the role of ahl in biofilm formation in escherichia coli (e. coli). the purpose of this investigation was to biochemically detect and characterize ahl activity in biofilm-forming...

Members of the genus Burkholderia are known for their ability to suppress soil-borne fungal pathogens by the production of various antibiotic compounds. In this study we investigated the role of N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL)-dependent quorum sensing (QS) in the expression of antifungal traits. Using a quorum quenching approach, that is, by heterologous expression of the Bacillus sp. AiiA lacto...

N-acyl L-homoserine lactones (AHLs) constitute a predominant class of quorum-sensing signaling molecules used by Gram-negative bacteria. Here, we report a sensitive and non-targeted HPLC-MS/MS method based on parallel reaction monitoring (PRM) to identify and quantitate known, unanticipated, and novel AHLs in microbial samples. Using a hybrid quadrupole-high resolution mass analyzer, this metho...

N-Acylhomoserine lactone acylase (AHL acylase) is a well-known enzyme responsible for disrupting cell-cell communication (quorum sensing) in bacteria. Here, we isolated and characterized a novel and unique AHL acylase (designated MacQ) from a multidrug-resistant bacterium, Acidovorax sp. strain MR-S7. The purified MacQ protein heterologously expressed in Escherichia coli degraded a wide variety...

Here, we report a draft 5.25-Mb genome sequence of Pseudoalteromonas sp. 520P1, a marine violacein-producing bacterium isolated from the Pacific coast of Japan. Genome annotation by BLAST searches revealed the presence of one acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) synthase (luxI) and five AHL receptor protein (luxR) gene homologs.

The rice endophyte Pantoea ananatis AMG521 shows several plant growth-promoting properties and promotes rice yield increases. Its draft genome was estimated at 4,891,568 bp with 4,704 coding sequences (CDS). The genome encodes genes for N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) synthases, AHL hydrolases, hyperadherence (yidQ, yidP, and yidR), fusaric acid resistance, and oxidation of lignin, highlighting ...

Bacteria are able to communicate with each other and sense their environment in a population density dependent mechanism known as quorum sensing (QS). N-acyl-homoserine lactones (AHLs) are the QS signaling compounds of Gram-negative bacteria which are frequent colonizers of rhizospheres. While cross-kingdom signaling and AHL-dependent gene expression in plants has been confirmed, the responses ...
