Several studies have compared the prediction accuracy of different types of techniques with emphasis placed on linear and stepwise regressions, and Case-based Reasoning (CBR). We believe the use of only one type of CBR technique may bias the results, as there are others that may also be used for effort prediction. This paper has two objectives. The first is to compare the prediction accuracy of...

The development of effective knowledge adaption techniques is one of the promising solutions to improve the performance of case-based reasoning (CBR) systems. Case-base maintenance becomes a powerful method to refine knowledge in CBR systems. This paper proposes an integrated knowledge adaption framework for CBR systems which contains a meta database component and a maintenance strategies compo...

In this paper we present a flexible CBR shell for Data-Intensive Case-Based Reasoning Systems which is fully integrated in an Intelligent Data Analysis Tool entitled GESCONDA. The main subgoal of the developed tool is to create a CBR Shell where no fixed domain exists and where letting the expert/user creates (models) his/her own domain. From an abstract point of view, the definition of the CBR...

This paper describes an experimental comparison of two reading techniques, namely Checklist-based reading (CBR) and Perspective-based reading (PBR) for Object-Oriented (OO) design inspection. Software inspection is an effective approach to detect defects in the early stages of the software development process. However, inspections are usually applied for defect detection in software requirement...

The California bearing ratio (CBR) test is the most widely spread method of determining strength pavement material and fundamental to design practice in countries. This expensive, laborious time consuming, overcome this, Quasi static cone penetrometer machine was fabricated used measure consistency limits (liquid limit-LL, Plastic limit-PL Plasticity index-PI), which were develop an empirical e...

lem-solving paradigm that uses exemplars or previous solutions to solve new problems (Aamodt and Plaza 1994; Kolodner 1993). Three characteristics of CBR account for its growing popularity. First, CBR can reduce search. Solution reuse is compatible with a wide range of problem-solving methods, so a CBR component can be used in many types of problem-solving system. When similar problems recur, C...

INTRODUCTION Equity in access to and utilization of health services is a common goal of policy-makers in most countries. The current study aimed to evaluate the distribution of need and access to health care services among Iran's rural population between 2006 and 2009. METHODS Census data on population's characteristics in each province were obtained from the Statistical Centre of Iran and Na...

Drug efflux systems contribute to the intrinsic resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to many antibiotics and biocides and hamper research focused on the discovery and development of new antimicrobial agents targeted against this important opportunistic pathogen. Using a P. aeruginosa PAO1 derivative bearing deletions of opmH, encoding an outer membrane channel for efflux substrates, and four ef...

Central to the community-based rehabilitation (CBR) approach is the concept of community participation. While many projects are based on the CBR approach, it is not evident how many CBR projects indeed use and measure community participation. The purpose of this study was to qualitatively analyse the extent of evaluation of community participation in CBR studies evaluated over the last thirty y...

In this paper, we present a short overview of different theories of explanation. We argue that the goals of the user should be taken into account when deciding what is a good explanation for a given CBR system. Some general types relevant to many Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) systems are identified and we use these goals to identify some limitations in using the case as an explanation in CBR systems.
