We consider the collective dynamics in an ensemble of globally coupled chaotic maps. The transition to the coherent state with a macroscopic mean field is analyzed in the framework of the linear response theory. The linear response function for the chaotic system is obtained using the perturbation approach to the Frobenius-Perron operator. The transition point is defined from this function by v...

In this tutorial paper, various phenomena linked to the synchronization of chaotic systems are discussed using the simple example of two coupled skew tent maps. The phenomenon of locally riddled basins of attraction is explained using the Lyapunov exponents transversal to the synchronization manifold. The skew tent maps are coupled in two different ways, leading to quite different global dynami...

It is investigated how a spatial quenched disorder modifies the dynamics of coupled map lattices. The disorder is introduced via the presence or absence of coupling terms among lattice sites. Two nonlinear maps have been considered embodying two paradigmatic dynamics. The Miller and Huse map can be associated with an Ising-type dynamics, whereas the logistic coupled maps is a prototype of a non...

A class of globally coupled one dimensional maps is studied. For the uncoupled one dimensional map it is possible to compute the spectrum of Liapunov exponents exactly, and there is a natural equilibrium measure (Sinai-Ruelle-Bowen measure), so the corresponding `typical' Liapunov exponent may also be computed. The globally coupled systems thus provide examples of blowout bifurcations in arbitr...

We provide quantitative support to the observation that lattices of coupled maps are "efficient" information coding devices. It has been suggested recently that lattices of coupled maps may provide a model of information coding in the nervous system because of their ability to create structured and stimulus-dependent activity patterns which have the potential to be used for storing information....

It is important to understand dynamics of complex networks. We focus on network with “local bridge” which is one of the complex networks. In this study, we investigate influence of the local bridge for network using synchronization phenomena of coupled Rulkov maps. From simulation results, when the maps switch from full synchronization to clustering, phase deviation occurs from the local bridges.

We study the phase space dynamics of multi–dimensional symplectic maps, using the method of the Generalized Alignment Index (GALI). In particular, we investigate the behavior of the GALI for a system of N = 3 coupled standard maps and show that it provides an efficient criterion for rapidly distinguishing between regular and chaotic motion.

In this paper, we introduce (CLRg) property for a hybrid pair of maps in fuzzy metric spaces and utilize the same to prove two unique common coupled fixed point theorems for two hybrid pairs of maps satisfying ψ+φ contractive condition in fuzzy metric spaces. This paper is devoted to the design of new chaotic Pseudo Random Number Generator (CPRNG). Exploring several topologies of network of 1-D coupled chaotic mapping, we focus first on two dimensional networks. Two coupled maps are studied: T T LRC non-alternative, and T T LSC alternative. The primary idea of the novel maps has been based on an original coupling of the tent and logistic maps to ach...

Ordinarily, two different topologies have been used to model spatiotemporal chaos and to study complexity in networks of maps: one where sites interact only with nearest neighbors (e.g., the standard diffusive coupling) and one where sites interact with all sites in the network (global coupling). Here we investigate intermediate regimes considering the interaction range as a free tunable parame...
