We report here the genome sequence of an effective chromium-reducing bacterium, Bacillus cereus strain S612. The size of the draft genome sequence is approximately 5.4 Mb, with a G+C content of 35%, and it is predicted to contain 5,450 protein-coding genes.

Article history: Received 28 April 2017 Accepted 2 May 2017 Available online 3 May 2017 lates had identical multi-locus sequence types (MLST). This is particularly significant as constant low level mutation for this organism means thatMLST yields an almost unique fingerprint for each organism and usually is only identical when taken from the same patient (Jironkin et al., 2016). This substantia...

The bacterial pathogen Francisella tularensis was recently renewed as a tier-one select agent. F. tularensis subsp. tularensis (type A) and holarctica (type B) are of clinical relevance. Here, we report the complete genome of a virulent F. tularensis type B strain and describe its usefulness in comparative genomics.

We report the first case of disseminated infection with both Actinomyces graevenitzii and Mycobacterium tuberculosis and review the medical literature. Concomitant actinomycosis and tuberculosis is very rare. The potential of the facultatively aerobic, newly described A. graevenitzii for disseminated invasive infection needs to be evaluated.

A major limitation in the identification of novel antichlamydial compounds is the paucity of effective methods for large-scale compound screening. The immunofluorescence assay is the preferred approach for accurate quantification of the intracellular growth of Chlamydia. In this study, an immunofluorescence image-based method (termed image-based automated chlamydial identification and enumerati...

PURPOSE The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of an ultrasonographic measurement of placental thickness and the correlation of a thick placenta with adverse perinatal outcome. METHODS Placental thickness was measured in single gravidas, 16 to 40 weeks of gestation, between 2005 and 2009. Placentas were considered to be thick if their measured thickness were above the 95th percenti...

13C-NMR studies have confirmed the structures of (8S)-8-hydroxyerythromycins A- and B-6,9;9,11-acetal proposed by KROWICKI and ZAMOJSKI2,3) for the products of the m-chloroperbenzoic acid oxidation of 8,9-anhydroerythromycins A- and B-6,9-hemiacetal. The preparations of (8S)-8-methylthiomethoxy- and (8S)-8-methoxyerythromycin B-6,9;9,11-acetals are described. The latter are stable in aqueous ac...
