A comparison has been made between Signal I, the photo-electron spin resonance signal associated with the primary light conversion act in photosynthesis, and free-radical signals generated in various chlorophyll species in vitro. The esr signals obtained from chlorophyll.monomer, (Chl.L)(+.), chlorophyll dimer, (Chl(2))(+.), and chlorophyll oligomer, (Chl(2))(n) (+.), are broader than Signal I,...

An electrochemical variational method (de la Rosa, et al. Inorg. Chem. 1985,24,4229) has been used to examine experimentally the extent of metal/ligand orbital mixing and electronic coupling in complexes of the type Ru"(NHJ4L2+ (L = 2,2'-bipyridine or 1 ,IO-phenanthroline). From the experiments, strong localization of d r electrons at the ruthenium metal center is indicated, Nevertheless, some ...

This paper introduces two new matrix nearness problems that are intended to generalize the distance to instability and the distance to stability. They are named the distance to delocalization and the distance to localization due to their applicability in analyzing the robustness of eigenvalues with respect to arbitrary localization sets (domains) in the complex plane. For the open left-half pla...

In the frame of the tight-binding approximation, we study the electronic transport and delocalization in one-dimensional random-polymer chains, where the impurity clusters are randomly distributed in the host monatomic chain and the impurity atoms possess inverse symmetry in each cluster. As an example, the asymmetric trimer case is presented first. The resonant energy is obtained analytically,...

We have developed new synthetic methodology for benzotriazinyl radicals that exhibit spin delocalization, low oxidation potentials, and ferromagnetic interactions in the solid state via π-π interactions, making them promising candidates for multifunctional magnetic materials.

We study the propagation of light in Bloch waveguide arrays exhibiting periodic coupling interactions. Intriguing wave packet revival patterns as well as beating Bloch oscillations are demonstrated. A new resonant delocalization phase transition is also predicted.
