So far many case-study researches have been undertaken to propose suitable models for hull optimization of planning high-speed crafts. In this paper a systematic and generic method is illustrated for the first time to introduce the optimized hull form of craft considering the desired speed and weight. Using semi-empirical Savitsky's method, optimal geometrical parameters of planning high-speed ...
The phase space S ×Z for a particle on a circle is considered. Displacement operators in this phase space are introduced and their properties are studied. Wigner and Weyl functions in this context are also considered and their physical interpretation and properties are discussed. All results are compared and contrasted with the corresponding ones for the harmonic oscillator in the R × R phase s...
We present a logarithmic barrier interior-point method for solving a second-order cone programming problem. Newton’s method is used to compute the descent direction, and majorant functions are used as an efficient alternative to line search methods to determine the displacement step along the direction. The efficiency of our method is shown by presenting numerical experiments.
We present a machine learning system for forecasting forced displacement populations deployed at the Danish Refugee Council (DRC). The system, named Foresight, supports long term forecasts aimed humanitarian response planning. It is explainable, providing evidence and context supporting forecast. Additionally, it scenarios, whereby analysts are able to generate under alternative conditions. has...
We construct first order, stable, nonconforming mixed finite elements for plane elasticity and analyze their convergence. The mixed method is based on the Hellinger– Reissner variational formulation in which the stress and displacement fields are the primary unknowns. The stress elements use polynomial shape functions but do not involve vertex degrees of freedom.
Discontinuous Galerkin time discretizations are combined with the mixed finite element and continuous finite element methods to solve the miscible displacement problem. Stable schemes of arbitrary order in space and time are obtained. Under minimal regularity assumptions on the data, convergence of the scheme is proved by using compactness results for functions that may be discontinuous in time.
Local and global approaches to digital image correlation are compared when the displacement interpolation is based upon bilinear shape functions (i.e., with fournode quadrilaterals). The resolution in terms of displacements and strains associated with both techniques are evaluated a priori and validated a posteriori by using series of images of real experiments. It is shown that global approach...
