Given a coloring of the vertices, we say subgraph H is monochromatic if every vertex of H is assigned the same color, and rainbow if no pair of vertices of H are assigned the same color. Given a graph G and a graph F , we define an F -WORM coloring of G as a coloring of the vertices of G without a rainbow or monochromatic subgraph H isomorphic to F . We present some results on this concept espe...

The effects of five different foods including: blood worm, artemia cyst, Artemia mass powder, gammarus mass powder and ordinary commercial food were studied on Siamese fighting fish (Bettasplendens) propagation efficiency during thirty days in a Randomize Totally Design with 4 repeats .Experimental plots had been consisted of twenty 30*30*40 (cm) aquarium which a pair of male and female brood s...

Folates are cofactors for biosynthetic enzymes in all eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells. Animals cannot synthesize folate and must acquire it from their diet or microbiota. Previously, we showed that inhibiting E. coli folate synthesis increases C. elegans lifespan. Here, we show that restriction or supplementation of C. elegans folate does not influence lifespan. Thus, folate is required in E. ...

A new detection approach based on worm behaviors for IDS anti-worm is presented. By the method, the susceptible hosts probed by worms can be detected, and then an immediate counter-attack to the susceptible host can be proposed. As a case study, a simulation on the IDS-based anti-worm counter-attacking the malicious worm is given, which shows the new containment is much more effective and bring...

Some people have argued that software is artistic. If so, what about malware? Only occasional, small-scale attempts have been made to create art using malware. We present “art worms,” worms which allow an artist to use the entire Internet as a canvas. These worms could be interactive, allowing an artist to stage a global performance, or non-interactive and automatic. Examples are given of artwo...

In the present study, initial vermicomposting trials were conducted for 100 days using leaf litters of Polyalthia longifolia (LPL) and sugarcane trash (SCT), each in combination with pressmud (PM) (i.e., 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25 and 100:0) by inoculating an epigeic earthworm, Perionyx ceylanensis. Based on C/N ratio, worm biomass and numbers recorded in vermicomposting trials, organic substra...

Bioconversion of industrial wastes into nutrient rich product using earthworms is of double interest: on the one hand, a waste is converted into organic fertilizer for soil application and on the other, it controls accumulation of harmful waste that is a consequence of growing industrialization. This study reports the feasibility of utilization of vermicomposting technology for nutrient recover...

Genetic and environmental factors shape host susceptibility to infection, but how and how rapidly environmental variation might alter the susceptibility of mammalian genotypes remains unknown. Here, we investigate the impacts of seminatural environments upon the nematode susceptibility profiles of inbred C57BL/6 mice. We hypothesized that natural exposure to microbes might directly (e.g., via t...

Through the descriptive and rheological characterization of worm-like micelles formed by N-hexadecyl-N-methylpyrrolidinium bromide and sodium laurate, the formation and properties of the worm-like micelles were affected by the concentrations of sodium laurate and temperature. Additionally, cryogenic transmission electron microscopy images further validated the formation of worm-like micelles.
