LaCo(2)As(2) can be synthesized as pure crystalline material by annealing a mixture of elements in Bi flux. The reaction, however, is accompanied by the incorporation of a small quantity of Bi into the structure and the formation of vacancies in the Co sublattice, which lead to substantial changes in structural and magnetic properties of the material.
A graded Holstein-Primakoff realization of the SU(2/1) algebra is proposed. A spin-wave theory with a condition that the sublattice magnetization is zero is discussed. It is shown that the generalized spin-wave theory is appropriate to investigate the long-range spiral (incommensurate) phase of the t − J model at T = 0. The spin-spin correlator is calculated.
We argue that the four-state Potts antiferromagnet has a finite-temperature phase transition on any Eulerian plane triangulation in which one sublattice consists of vertices of degree 4. We furthermore predict the universality class of this transition. We then present transfer-matrix and Monte Carlo data confirming these predictions for the cases of the Union Jack and bisected hexagonal lattices.
We have determined the magnetic structure of the Fe sublattice in YFe6Ge6 by highresolution neutron powder diffraction. The crystal space group is Cmcm and the magnetic space group is CPm′c′m′. The Fe modes are GX , G − X and G − X at the 8d, 8e and 8g sites, respectively. The easy direction of magnetization is [100] and the propagation vector is [010].
