This thesis builds on the work of Fekete et al. ?], who deened an eventually-serializable data service (ESDS) and an abstract algorithm for it. ESDS allows its users to relax consistency requirements in return for improved responsiveness, while providing guarantees of eventual consistency of the replicated data. An important consideration in formulating ESDS was that it could be employed in bui...

In IPCO 2002, Letchford and Lodi describe an algorithm for separating simple comb inequalities that runs in O(nm log n) time, where n and m are respectively the number of nodes and arcs in the support graph of the point to be separated. In this extended abstract, we demonstrate that the above algorithm separates over a superclass of simple comb inequalities, which we call simple domino parity i...

Fekete polynomials associate with each prime number p a polynomial coefficients −1 or 1 except the constant term, which is 0. These reflect distribution of quadratic residues modulo p. were already considered in 19th century relation to studies Dirichlet L-functions. In our paper, we introduce two closely related polynomials. We then express their special values at several integers terms certai...

The fixed-charge transportation problem is a fixed-charge network flow problem on a bipartite graph. This problem appears as a subproblem in many hard transportation problems, and is also both a special case and a strong relaxation of the challenging bigbucket multi-item lot-sizing problem. In this paper, we provide a polyhedral analysis of the polynomially solvable special case in which the as...

In this work we present an exact separation algorithm for the so called 2-matching inequalities, otherwise known as parity or co-circuit inequalities. The algorithm is quite simple since it operates on the tree of min-cuts of the support graph of the solution to separate, relative to an ad hoc capacity vector. The order of this algorithm is O(|V |).

Hartvigsen, D. and E. Zemel, The complexity of lifted inequalities for the knapsack problem, Discrete Applied Mathematics 39 (1992) 11. 123. It is well known that one can obtain facets and valid inequalities for the knapsack polytope by lifting simple inequalities associated with minimal covers. We study the complexity of lifting. We show that recognizing integral lifted facets or valid inequal...

Günlük and Pochet [O. Günlük , Y. Pochet: Mixing mixed integer inequalities. Mathematical Programming 90(2001) 429-457] proposed a procedure to mix mixed integer rounding (MIR) inequalities. The mixed MIR inequalities define the convex hull of the mixing set {(y, . . . , y, v) ∈ Z × R+ : α1y + v ≥ βi, i = 1, . . . ,m} and can also be used to generate valid inequalities for general as well as se...
