Grammoplites vittatus (Valenciennes), often previously overlooked by authors or regarded as a junior synonym of G. scaber (Linnaeus), is shown here to be a valid species. It has more gill rakers (7-8) then G. scaber and G. knappi (usually 6) and a narrower interorbital width than G. scaber. A key to the species of Grammoplites Fowler is given.

We consider the second order differential equation ( a(t)|x′|α sgn x′ )′ + b(t)|x| sgn x = 0 in the super-linear case α < β. We prove the existence of the so-called intermediate solutions and we discuss their coexistence with other types of nonoscillatory and oscillatory solutions. Our results are new even for the Emden–Fowler equation (α = 1).

We show that the C *-envelope of the tensor algebra of an arbitrary C *-correspondence X coincides with the Cuntz-Pimsner algebra O X , as defined by Katsura [7]. This improves earlier results of Muhly and Solel [13] and Fowler, Muhly and Raeburn [5], who came to the same conclusion under the additional hypothesis that X is strict and faithful.
We discuss the existence of solutions with oblique asymptotes to a class of second order nonlinear ordinary differential equations by means of Lyapunov functions. The approach is new in this field and allows for simpler proofs of general results regarding Emden-Fowler like equations.
In this article, we presented a new approach deduced from He’s homotopy perturbation method (HPM) to obtain exact and/or approximate analytical solutions of Emden–Fowler type equations. The results reveal that the proposed algorithm is very effective and in most cases yield exact solutions in the first approximation. Some examples are given to illustrate the new approach.
