A sol-gel preparation of Ga-doped phosphate-based glass with potential application in antimicrobial devices has been developed. Samples of composition (CaO)0.30(Na2O)0.20-x(Ga2O3)x(P2O5)0.50 where x = 0 and 0.03 were prepared, and the structure and properties of the gallium-doped sample compared with those of the sample containing no gallium. Analysis of the 31 P MAS NMR data demonstrated that ...

Mortality from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) is high, thus defining the need for additional therapeutic agents for this disease. Gallium nitrate is a metal compound that is presently approved for the treatment of hypercalcaemia associated with malignancy. In clinical trials first conducted over two decades ago, this drug was found to have antineoplastic activity in NHL. However, its development ...

purpose: to recognize affective factors in delivering x-ray contrast agents (which have high atomic number) via gallium carrier to liver or lymphatic neoplasm cells.   materials and methods: since uptake of gallium by liver has been reported in numerous researches, it was bonded with a contrast media (metrizoate). x-ray imaging was done to determine geometric features of liver.   results: radio...

Aluminum Gallium Nitride is an exciting new semiconductor that is not yet fully understood. Detailed electrical analysis can be undertaken using cathodoluminescence spectroscopy, and the results correlated to the relative abundance of the aluminum, gallium, and nitrogen, as well as oxygen impurities.

The healing of venous ulcers of the leg with and without gallium arsenide laser treatment was studied in 42 patients randomly divided into two groups. One group received standard conservative treatment and gallium arsenide laser, and the other received the same standard treatment and placebo laser treatment. There were no differences in results between the two groups.

In this communication, we describe a novel synthetic method for fabricating multicomponent gold nanoparticles containing both gallium ions and biomolecules on the surface. Detailed compositional analysis, using STEM-HAADF and EELS spectroscopy, confirmed the crystalline nature of gold and chelation of gallium ions. The presence of the biomolecule was validated using conventional ELISA.

Gallium nitride light emitting diodes were deposited on a sapphire substrate that was pre-patterned with an ordered two-dimensional structure. The size and arrangement of the substrate surface pattern was designed to increase the diffraction and extraction of light from the device as well as define the grain size and thus dislocation density of the GaN crystal. A close-packing of self-assembled...

Current treatment of cancer-related hypercalcemia is limited by agents of limited effectiveness or excessive toxicity. Gallium nitrate is a new drug which both inhibits bone resorption and increases calcium content of bone. We have now treated 39 episodes of hypercalcemia with gallium nitrate administered as a continuous i.v. infusion for 5-7 days at 3 daily dose levels (100 and 200 mg/m2, and ...
