A polar gibberellin active in the dwarf rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedling and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) half-seed assays was extracted from immature sour cherry (Prunus cerasus L.) seed and identified as gibberellin A(32) by gas-liquid chromatography and selected ion monitoring.

We report here the complete 4.7-Mb genome sequence of Xanthomonas translucens pv. translucens DSM 18974T, which causes black chaff disease on barley (Hordeum vulgare). Genome data of this X. translucens type strain will improve our understanding of this bacterial species.

A field study with spring barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) was conducted on the area of long-term balance experiment in Tsalapitsa village near Plovdiv (Bulgaria), alluvial-meadow soil. Mineral fertilization not applied to this crop order equalize regarding nutrient content. The grown before maize 4 variants and one control variant: N0P0, N100Р50, N150Р100, N200Р150, N250P200. present aimed evaluate...

Although no amine oxidase could be detected in crude extracts, the enzyme has been purified to apparent homogeneity from Hordeum vulgare seedlings using ammonium sulfate precipitation and chromatography on DEAE cellulose, Hydroxylapatite, and Sephadex G200 columns. Gel filtration experiments indicate a molecular weight of about 150,000. The pH optimum of the enzyme was found to be 7.5 in potass...

A single measurement is useful for determining how far a crop has progressed through grain development, and whether it reached physiological maturity. Grain development commonly assessed by using subjective, qualitative methods that describe the look feel of kernel or colour straw. Physiological maturity in cereal crops can be determined more accurately moisture content; however, content whole ...

Two basic proteins, HLP-1 and HLP-2, were isolated from brewer's barley grain (Hordeum vulgare L.) and characterized as glycoproteins with molecular masses of 16 and 13 kDa and pI values of 7.4 and 8.8, respectively. They could bind sugars, metal ions, and both hydrophobic and hydrophylic molecules of low molecular mass. These characteristics may be related to their potential plant-protecting r...

Fructan was precipitated from a water and ethanol extract of oat (Avena sativa L.) and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.). The degree of polymerization and response on a differential refractometer, based on peak area and height, was compared to fructan collected from a lead-based HPLC column and to commercially available inulin. Statistically significant differences are discussed.

ABSTRACT. Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) is one of the most widely cultivated stable food crops in world. grain samples were collected from four selected areas (Bahir Dar, Bure, Finote Selam and Debre Markos) Ethiopia types processed (kolo, porridge, bread injera) prepared it. The levels essential non-essential metals barley grains its determined by microwave plasma-atomic emission spectrometry af...
