Recent outbreaks of Ebola, H1N1 and other infectious diseases have shown that the assumptions underlying the established theory of epidemics management are too idealistic. For an improvement of procedures and organizations involved in fighting epidemics, extended models of epidemics management are required. The necessary extensions consist in a representation of the management loop and the pote...

It is has been well documented that the performance of group housed pigs is considerably lower than the performance of their genetic contemporaries when housed singularly in idealistic environments (Black et al. 2001). The review by Black et al. (2001) suggested that within commercial environments group housed pigs had depressed feed intakes and efficiency of feed usage as well as a tendency to...

Western theater theory and criticism is generally considered to be set forth by the Greeks. We present in this paper the advantages of using the model of Euclidean paths for the geometrical analysis of a discrete curve. The Euclidean paths are a semi-continuous representation of a discrete path providing a good approximation of the underlying real curve. We describe the use of this model to obtain accurate estimations of lenght, tangent orientation and curvature.
