In this paper, we present new results on the reconstruction of two-dimensional signals from zero crossing or threshold crossing information. These results follow from our previous work on the reconstruction of twodimensional signals from one bit of Fourier transform phase. Experimental results illustrating image reconstruction from threshold crossings are included.

This paper presents a Bayesian interpretation of maximum entropy image reconstruction and shows that exp(αS(/, m)), where S(f,m) is the entropy of image / relative to model m, is the only consistent prior probability distribution for positive, additive images. It also leads to a natural choice for the regularizing parameter α, that supersedes the traditional practice of setting χ = N. The new c...

In this paper we review several algorithms for image inpainting based on the hypoelliptic diffusion naturally associated with a mathematical model of the primary visual cortex. In particular, we present one algorithm that does not exploit the information of where the image is corrupted, and others that do it. While the first algorithm is able to reconstruct only images that our visual system is...

Digital inpainting can be described as a technique of filling gaps or occlusions in an input image for making it more visually plausible. It is a method of image reconstruction. We know that image reconstruction is done to recover degeneration or degradation caused to the images due to some image processing activities. The filling of gaps or lost area is done using data from remaining region of...

Current research in videoconferencing is focussed on 3D-Sound reproduction over a wide listening area. This paper compares two methods: Holophony and Ambisonic. First, it will be shown that Ambisonic actually corresponds to a particular case of holophonic reconstruction , then the speciicities of the two approaches will be analysed in terms of complexity and size of listening area. As a result,...

We present a novel approach called Minimal Reconstruction Bias Hashing (MRH) to learn similarity preserving binary codes that jointly optimize both projection and quantization stages. Our work tackles an important problem of how to elegantly connect optimizing projection with optimizing quantization, and to maximize the complementary effects of two stages. Distinct from previous works, MRH can ...

Facial animation is traditionally considered as important but tedious work for most applications, because the muscles on face are complex and dynamically interacting. Although there are several methods proposed to ease the burden from artists to create animating faces, non of these are fast and efficient in storage. This paper introduces a framework for synthesizing lips-sync facial animation g...

This paper proposes a method of automatic facial reconstruction from a facial image partially corrupted by noise or occlusion. There are two key features of this method; the one is the automatic extraction of the correspondences ∗ corresponding author Facial Image Reconstruction from a Corrupted Image by SVDD 1213 between the corrupted input face and reference face without additional manual tas...

Recently we have proposed the algorithm for the problem of image inpaiting (filling in occluded or damaged parts of images). This algorithm was based on the criterion spectrum entropy and showed promising results despite of using hand-crafted representation of images. In this paper, we present a method for solving image inpaiting task based on learning some image representation. Some results ar...

The nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of materials often involves the solution of an inverse problem. It is shown that image reconstruction techniques lead to the direct solution of the 3-D inverse problem when radiographic measurements are made. In particular, it is sugg_~ted that the convolve-and-backproject solution to the 3-D divergent ray geometry problem should be useful for NDE. There is a...
