A partial order on a set A induces a partition of each power An into “patterns” in a natural way. An operation on A is called a -pattern operation if its restriction to each pattern is a projection. We examine functional completeness of algebras with -pattern fundamental operations.

In spite of increasing studies and investigations in the field of aggregation operators, there are two fundamental problems remaining unsolved: aggregation of L-fuzzy settheoretic notions and their justification. In order to solve these problems, we will formulate aggregation operators and their special types on partially ordered sets with universal bounds, and introduce their categories. Furth...

The theory of simplicial sets and their realization is perhaps the basis to the combinatorial approach to homotopy theory. The construction of the geometric realization is very natural except for one thing: It begins with the postulation of the geometric realization of each of the “standard simplices”, to which no justification is given. It occurred to us that by “explaining” the nature of this...

Let X be any partially ordered set, R any commutative ring, and T = I * (X,R) the weak incidence algebra of X over R. Let Z be a finite nonempty subset of X, L(Z) = {x ∈ X : x z for some z ∈ Z}, and M = Te Z. Various chain conditions on M are investigated. The results so proved are used to construct some classes of right perfect rings that are not left perfect.

Preferences are not always expressible via complete linear orders: sometimes it is more natural to allow for the presence of incomparable outcomes. This may hold both in the agents’ preference ordering and in the social order. In this article, we consider this scenario and study what properties it may have. In particular, we show that, despite the added expressivity and ability to resolve confl...
