Oxidized triangle terarylenes with asymmetric side-aryl units are synthesized, which show photo-induced turn-on yellow luminescence based on photochemical intramolecular ring-cyclization reaction in the solid state. A direct photo-patterning process for organic electroluminescent devices is successfully demonstrated with selective light irradiation through an appropriate mask-pattern.

Photophysical and photochemical characterization of a novel cationic silicon phthalocyanine with excellent water solubility properties is reported. The robust red-light responsive compound shows very attractive features as a sensitizer for reductive and oxidative quenching processes to trigger photocatalytic substrate conversion in aqueous solution.

Sustainable photochemical NADH regeneration and redox-enzymatic synthesis are accomplished by using CdS nanocrystals grown on the surface of SiO(2) beads. CdS nanocrystals grown on SiO(2) beads worked efficiently as a visible-light absorbing photocatalyst for in situ NADH regeneration with high catalytic activity and minimal loss of activity despite repeated uses.

Light harvesting as the first step in photosynthesis is of prime importance for life on earth. For a theoretical description photochemical processes during light harvesting, spectral densities are key quantities. They serve input functions modeling excitation energy transfer dynamics and spectroscopic properties. Herein, recently developed procedure applied to determine pigments minor antenna c...

Transduction of light dependent signals to redox sensitive kinases in photosynthetic membranes modulates energy transfer to the photochemical reaction centres and regulates biogenesis, stability and turnover of thylakoid protein complexes. The occupancy of the quinol-oxidation site of the cytochrome bf complex by plastoquinol and the redox state of protein thiol groups act as elements of the si...

Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs) have attracted increasing attention for the creation of solid-state platforms for catalysis applications. In this review article, we present strategies to employ MOF-based materials in photochemical hydrogen production. The scope ranges from the incorporation of single functions (catalyst or photosensitizer) to multifunctional MOFs that combine both light-harvest...

The macroscopic character of the whole plant, physical constant values, extractive values, behaviour on treatment with different chemical reagents. Fluorescence characters under uv light after treatment with different chemical reagents of the powdered whole plant of lonidium suffruticosam Ging (Family; violaceae) were studied to characterize some pharmacognostical parameters. Preliminary photoc...

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is used to cause specific tissue destruction, using photochemical reactions that result from light excitation of photosensitizer, which has localized in the target tissue. The process of photosensitizer photobleaching was investigated to redefine the approach to dosimetry, when applied to treatment of Barrett’s esophagus.

The visible light photochemical reactivity of a 50 nm thick α-Fe(2)O(3)(0001) (hematite) film on a SrTiO(3)(111) substrate is compared to the reactivities of bulk hematite and the same film supported by α-Al(2)O(3)(0001). The hematite film supported by SrTiO(3)(111) is far more reactive then the other two cases.

A simple and robust method to immobilize cells onto a glass substrate is presented. The method employs a photochemical reaction of benzophenone, which is modified on the substrate using a standard silane coupling agent, with cells. Cells were immobilized to an area irradiated with UV light from a standard light source under an inverted microscope. The dependence of immobilization on the ligh...
