Porous metal-organic framework compounds with coordinatively unsaturated metal sites on the inner surface of the pores promise to be valuable adsorbents and catalyst systems, either in industrial applications or as model systems to study interactions with guest molecules. The dehydration process of two isostructural microporous coordination polymers, [M2(dhtp)(H2O)2].8 H2O, termed CPO-27-M (M=C...
The viscosity of dilute suspensions of several metal oxides (SiO2, Al2O3 and TiO2) was measured at different pH values. The intrinsic viscosity, [eta], was derived from the concentration dependence of the viscosity. This magnitude was pH-dependent. A correlation with the shape of the kinetic unity has been proposed.
Manipulating the orbital state in a strongly correlated electron system is of fundamental and technological importance for exploring and developing novel electronic phases. Here, we report an unambiguous demonstration of orbital occupancy control between t2g and eg multiplets in quasi-two-dimensional transition metal oxide superlattices (SLs) composed of a Mott insulator LaCoO3 and a band insul...
The electromagnetic coupling between a two-dimensional grating of resonant gold nanoparticles and a gold metallic film is investigated. We report on the observation of multipeaks in the extinction spectra attributed to resonant modes of the hybrid system, resulting from the coupling between the localized plasmon of the nanoparticles with the underlying surface plasmon mode. Simulations based on...
Pt(3)Ni alloy nanoparticle networks (Pt(3)Ni NN) were prepared through a simple one-step room-temperature synthetic method. The as-prepared Pt(3)Ni NN exhibited markedly improved activity for both oxygen reduction reaction and electrocatalytic oxidation of small organic molecules over the Pt nanoparticle networks (Pt NN) and commercially available Pt/C.
We investigate the combined effect of spin-orbit scattering and electron-electron interactions on the probability distribution of g factors of metal nanoparticles. Using random matrix theory, we find that even a relatively small interaction strength significantly increases g-factor fluctuations for not-too-strong spin-orbit scattering (ratio of spin-orbit rate and single-electron level spacing ...
