In this paper, a K-band ground-based hyperspectral microwave radiometer for atmospheric sounding is proposed, which improves the profile error and vertical resolution of moisture profiling under the high water vapor condition. The hyperspectral microwave radiometer (80 K-band spectral channels) can observe the rapidly changing weather with high sensitivity and accuracy of brightness temperature...

This paper describes the development of a low loss, high power, microwave switch MMIC design. The operating bandwidth of the switch was 7 to 11GHz. Simulated performance shows an insertion loss of 0.71dB at mid-band rising to 0.85dB at the band-edge. The estimated power handling capability of the switch is 6.3W at 1dB compression for 0/-10V control. Isolation is better than 27dB across the enti...

A novel CPW-to-waveguide transition utilizing a uniplanar quasi-Yagi antenna is presented. The X-band back-to-back transition demonstrates 33% bandwidth with return loss better than -10dB. This transition should find a wide variety of applications due to its high MIC/MMIC compatibility and low cost.

A distnbuted amplifier based 5-tap tramversai filter using MESFET implementation of the Gilbert Cell as the tap weights has been designed for use as a fractonally spilfed adjustable equaluer in high speed optical c~mmunication systems. The effective tramconductance of the Gilbert Celi can be adjusted h m negative to positive values and therefore the transversal filter designed has adjustable po...

In this paper a novel differentially fed Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) antenna in low-temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) technology to be used in the 60 GHz band for integrated RF front-ends is presented. The antenna is based on the aperture stacked patch fed via H-shaped aperture to achieve more than 10 GHz operational bandwidth. The antenna is fed by a parallel-wire transmission line which enables ...

This paper summarizes the development of compact and highly integrated microwave and millimeter wave radio front-end System-on-Package (SOP). The three-dimensional transceiver front-end SOP architectures incorporate onpackage integrated lumped element passives as well as RF functions primarily filters, baluns, and antennas in standard multi-layer LTCC and fully-organic technologies. In addition...

Phased-array antennas are required for many of NASA's future missions. They will provide agile electronic beam forming for communications and tracking in the range of 1 to 100 GHz. Such phased arrays are expected to use several hundred GaAs monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC's) as transmitting and receiving elements. However, the interLn CO connections of these elements by conventio...

This paper is addressed to a design of K-band dual mode radar used in traffic information collection. The radar can work in both Frequency Modulate Continual Wave (FMCW) mode and Continual Wave (CW) mode. As VCO is seldom used as the oscillator in CW radar for velocity measurement, this paper studied the effect of phase noise and detecting distance on velocity error in CW mode in VCO design. Th...

This paper presents the x-band 5-bit MMIC digital attenuator with low phase shift. Phase compensation techniques were used in the MMIC design to reduce the phase shift. This attenuator is fabricated with 0.2μm GaAs PHEMT process. Measurement results of the developed MMIC chips in the xband show that the 5-bit MMIC digital attenuator has 0.5dB resolution and 15.5dB dynamic attenuation range, inp...
