A simple and scalable process was developed for the synthesis of highly crystalline magnetite nanocrystals embedded in a carbon matrix using low cost starting materials; the resulting nanocomposite showed a very high specific capacity of 863 mA hg(-1) in the initial cycle and high capacity retention of 90% after 30 cycles.

A family of nanostructured polyaniline (PANI) materials including polystyrene (PS)/PANI core/shell particles, PANI hollow spheres, PANI/PS nanocomposite and nanoporous PANI, were conveniently prepared by surface charge control of PS nanoparticle templates which resulted in different polymer growth mechanisms when PANI was electropolymerized around the templates.

This study indicated that multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-epoxy composites can be used as effective lightweight shielding materials. The measurement results showed that highest EMI SE of 23.4 dB at 8 GHz was obtained for nanocomposite with 1 wt% MWCNTs. Dielectric properties and electrical conductivity values were supplemented by microscopic studies.
