We present a case of a 6 year-old boy who presented with a huge mass in the right side of the neck and changes its size with respiration and with straining. Computed tomography of the chest and neck showed a huge mass that was thought to be cystic hygroma. It was excised by both median sternotomy and a right cervical incision. Pathology revealed a thymic cyst.

Up to 20% of all congenital pediatric head and neck masses are branchial cleft cysts. Second branchial cleft cysts account for 95% of branchial anomalies, and fourth branchial cleft cysts are the rarest type. Their typical presentations include non-life-threatening symptoms, such as drainage, skin irritations, minor swelling, and tenderness. We describe a 5-week-old neonate with increasing stri...

We present a case of fetal cystic lymphangioma that was initially diagnosed by ultrasonography and further evaluated by prenatal MR imaging. MR imaging findings aided in improved delineation of the neck mass. T2-weighted MR images revealed partial compression of the airway by the neck mass. This information was useful in the decision to use ex utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) and helped surge...

Actinomycosis is a rare, chronic granulomatous infection caused by gram-positive, anaerobic to microaerophilic branching filamentous bacteria. In the cervicofacial region, it usually presents as an enlarging neck mass. It remains a diagnostic challenge due to the fact that cultures show no growth in more than 50% of cases. We report a case of a 67-year-old patient known to have a neck mass seco...
