We consider a possible generalization of the random matrix theory, which involves the maximization of Tsallis’ q-parametrized entropy. We discuss the dependence of the spacing distribution on q using a nonextensive generalization of Wigner’s surmises for ensembles belonging to the orthogonal, unitary and symplectic symmetry universal classes. A large class of entropy functions and corresponding relative entropies is considered. Inequalities are derived, proving continuity with respect to specific distance functions. As an application it is shown that these entropies satisfy Lesche’s continuity condition. The entropies of Tsallis’ nonextensive thermostatistics are taken as examples.
