Analysis of speech signals can be performed with the aid of linear or nonlinear statistics using appropriate prediction algorithms. In this contribution, speech features are treated using the results of a nonlinear prediction based on Volterra series. Features are investigated representing the prediction gain by nonlinear statistics and representing individual coefficients of the nonlinear comp...
The high noise levels associated with full-scale military aircraft result in nonlinear propagation, which results in acoustic shock formation and can alter noise perception. This propagation has been modeled for other aircraft but previous studies have been limited in scope, showing results for only select engine conditions and angles. Recent data measured near an F-35B allow for a more complet...
Purpose: Military boots’ mileage is a main factor that can be influence the risk of sustaining injuries during running. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of three types of military boots’ mileage on knee muscular co-contraction during running. Methods: Fifteen healthy males received three new pairs of military boots. They were asked to wear these shoes for over 6 months. ...
A fully integrated single-ended output pushpush oscillator is realized using an advanced 0.2μm SiGe HBT process. Up to –5 dBm output power is achieved at 180 GHz using a technology with a transition frequency fT of 200 GHz and maximum oscillation frequency fMAX of 275 GHz. Preliminary phase noise measurements show a phase noise of less than –90 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset from the 180 GHz carrier.
This article presents some reflections on the development of push services and technologies over the Internet, based on work done by the authors in the Swisscast research project from 1997 to 2000 (www.swisscast.net). About five years ago push services were seen as a major trend in Internet communication. Users so it seemed would simply have to subscribe to a series of these services; then, the...
This paper presents a broadband frequency quadrupler (FQ) implemented with standard 130-nm SiGe BiCMOS process. Two push-push doublers (×2) operate at an input of 32.5–55 GHz and 65–110 GHz, respectively. To properly drive the two enough power bandwidth, transformer coupled amplifiers (PAs) have been adopted. The former amplifier is based on neutralized capacitor structure latter topology. A no...
