The energy levels of light hypernuclei are experimentally accessible observables that contain valuable information about the interaction between hyperons and nucleons. In this work we study strangeness $S = -1$ systems $^{3,4}_\Lambda$H $^{4,5}_\Lambda$He using ab initio no-core shell model (NCSM) with realistic interactions obtained from chiral effective field theory ($\chi$EFT). particular, q...

The knowledge of nuclear reaction rates is important for studying energy production and nucleosynthesis, especially in reactions including nuclei far from stability line, which are not accessible experimentally so far and thus it is necessary to be able to predict reaction cross sections in low excitation energies. Nuclear level density is one of the important key quantities in many nuclear phy...

We study nuclear physics in the chiral limit (mu, md = 0) in which the pion mass vanishes. We find that the deuteron mass is changed little, but that P–wave nucleon–nucleon scattering volumes are infinite. This motivates an investigation of the possibilities that there could be a two–nucleon 3P0 bound state, and that the nuclear matter ground state is likely to be a condensed state of nucleons ...

The last few years activity of the Italian community concerning nuclear physics with electroweak probes is reviewed. Inclusive quasi-elastic electron-scattering, photon end electron induced oneand two-nucleon emission are considered. The scattering of neutrinos off nuclei in the quasi-elastic region is also discussed.

Lattice QCD is progressing toward being able to impact our understanding of nuclei and nuclear processes. I discuss areas of nuclear physics that are becoming possible to explore with lattice QCD, the techniques that are currently available and the status of numerical explorations. I give an overview of efforts in the last year to calculate interactions among hadrons using lattice QCD. Results discussed include the extraction of low-energy phase shifts and three-body interactions , and the study of pion and kaon condensation. A critical appraisal is offered of recent attempts to calculate nucleon-nucleon and nucleon-hyperon potentials on the lattice.

In recent years, the italian theoretical Nuclear Physics community has played a leading role in the development of a unified approach, allowing for a consistent and fully quantitative description of the nuclear response to electromagnetic and weak probes. In this paper I review the main achievements in both fields, point out some of the open problems, and outline the most promising prospects.
