Human CD34+CD38- hematopoietic precursor cells from fetal liver are able to develop into T, NK, and dendritic cells in a hybrid human/mouse fetal thymic organ culture (FTOC). In this report, we pay particular attention to the early events in differentiation of these precursor cells. We show that the CD34+CD38- precursor cells, which are CD4-CD7-cyCD3-HLA-DR-/++ (cy, cytoplasmatic), differentiat...

Substantial progress has been achieved over the last few decades in the development of skin equivalents to model the skin as an organ. However, their static culture still limits the emulation of essential physiological properties crucial for toxicity testing and compound screening. Here, we describe a dynamically perfused chip-based bioreactor platform capable of applying variable mechanical sh...

it is not possible to understand developments of a country’s culture and civilization without knowing his believes and myths. whether it is north or south, east or west, planes or mountains, sahara or deserts, here in iran every corner includes valuable and precious treasures which are known all over the world, and cultural – historical objects which are found here adorn all well known museums of the globe. zagros mountains, lorestan province locating at the heart of that, are not only the same, but are more prominent than other iranian regions. you can not find someone who does not know what the lorestani bronzes are, and there is no museum that not be pride of having a piece of that. the said bronzes which are manufactured four millenniums b.c. are admired nearly by all those researchers because of their beauty, diversity and technique. lorestani artistic works including stone engraves, bronzes and clays, show an ideal and metaphysical world beside real world which explain mental system of human beings on that era against sensations and phenomena happening around them. men main mental occupation on that time was he unknown world which had surrounded them, and they used to use the religion to fight life’s natural factors, and art was a tool of religious and mythical painting which was far from reality and had entered into the abstract domain. as natural objects have become subjects of lorestani art, it cleanses them from any non – intrinsic limitations and external factors which surround them and darken their meanings, and just shows their main specifications. artist in the said civilization is not searching for realism. although these are few works showing the nature, but in effect there is no wish to imitate touchable factors of the nature, and artist has turned real phenomena to encoded signs as per his own mentality. this procedure is called stylization.

A search of literature published through the spring of 1986 yielded approximately 95 citations for the following embryonic organs in culture: kidney, pancreas, skin, palate, craniofacial tissue, tooth, lens, bones, digits, and liver. However, only the in vitro organ culture of the palate and tooth are reviewed in this paper. The other organ culture systems were not reported as teratogenic scree...

Adrenocortical carcinoma tissue removed from a mildly hirsute 16-year-old girl was cultured in order to assess steroidogenesis and responsiveness of the cells to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), and insulin. The cells in culture produced large amounts of androstenedione and testosterone; however, production of cortisol, which was initially high, decreased ...

The enteric nervous system of vertebrates is derived from neural crest cells that invade the gut wall and generate a highly organised network of enteric ganglia. Among the genes that play an important role in ENS development is c-Ret, mutations of which result in failure of formation of enteric ganglia (intestinal aganglionosis). To further understand the development of the mammalian ENS in gen...

The proliferation and differentiation potentiality of the rat visceral yolk sac was investigated both in organ culture and after grafting in vivo. Using alkaline phosphatase as a marker for germ cells, it was shown that these cells are absent in the 12-day-old visceral yolk sac examined before and after organ culture. Therefore, the only cells that proliferate and differentiate must be of endod...
