Higher solubility at alkaline conditions is very significant for an efficient treatment process of gaseous H2S(g) by reducing the gas–liquid ransfer limitations. Nevertheless, the alkaline biodegradation process of H2S can be limited when sulfide concentrations are inhibitory. At alkaline onditions (pH > 9), the abiotic chemical sulfide oxidation can attain relatively high rates. A series of ab...

Current battery systems have severe cost and resource restrictions, difficultly to meet the large scale electric storage applications. Herein, we report an all-organic Na-ion battery using p-dopable polytriphenylamine as cathode and n-type redox-active poly(anthraquinonyl sulphide) as anode, excluding the use of transition-metals as in conventional electrochemical batteries. Such a Na-ion batte...

We here explore a kinetically controlled synthetic protocol for preparing solvent-solvable Au102(SPh)44 nanoclusters which are isolated from polydispersed gold nanoclusters by solvent extraction and size exclusion chromatography (SEC). The as-obtained Au102(SPh)44 nanoclusters are determined by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) and electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectromet...

Copper mine drainages are restricted environments that have been overlooked as sources of new biocatalysts for bioremediation and organic syntheses. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the enzymatic activities (esterase, epoxide hydrolase and monooxygenase) of 56 heterotrophic bacteria isolated from a neutral copper mine drainage (Sossego Mine, Canaã dos Carajás, Brazil). Hydrolase and mon...

Self-standing single crystalline NiCo2S4 hollow nanorod arrays are prepared for catalysing the polysulfide redox couple in quantum dot-sensitized solar cells (QDSCs). The QDSCs using NiCo2S4 as a counter electrode (CE) achieved a power conversion efficiency of 4.22%, which exceeds the performance of QDSCs based on a Pt CE by 38.4%.

Total Hg distributions and its speciation were determined in two sediment cores collected from the western continental marginal high of India. Total Hg content in the sediment was found to gradually increase (by approximately two times) towards the surface in both the cores. It was found that Hg was preferentially bound to sulfide under anoxic condition. However, redox-mediated reactions in the...

The dynamics of sulphide oxidation in an experimental biofilm of the green sulphur bacterium, Prosthecochloris aestuarii, were studied using a newly developed light-dark cycling procedure. The biofilm was grown for 6 weeks in a benthic gradient chamber, in which gradients of light, sulphide and oxygen were imposed experimentally. The H2S concentrations and pH were measured with microsensors as ...

An isothiourea-catalyzed Michael addition-lactamization followed by the sulfide oxidation-elimination/N- to O-sulfonyl transfer sequence for the formation of 2,3,5- and 2,3-substituted pyridine 6-tosylates from (phenylthio)acetic acids and α,β-unsaturated ketimines is described. Incorporation of the valuable 2-sulfonate group allows derivatization to a range of di-, tri-, and tetrasubstituted p...

The Chah-Bagh gold occurrence is located in Muteh mining district, in the central part of the Sanandaj-Sirjan zone. Gold mineralization occurs in ductile to ductile-brittle shear zones and is comparable with orogenic gold deposits. Silicification and sulfidization are the most important hydrothermal alteration features in the inner parts of altered shear zones and coincide most closely with the...
