I'll show in an initial section (1.) that the kind of analogy between life and information (argue for by authors such as [1], [2], [3] [4], [5], [6]) is like the design argument and that if the design argument is invalid, the argument to the effect that artificial mind may represents an expected advance in the life evolution in Universe is also unfounded and invalid. However, if we are prepared...

An introduction into the setup, definitions and use of PRTools is given. Readers are assumed to be familiar with Matlab and should have a basic understanding of field of statistical pattern recognition. The Netherlands-2

The paper presents a brief survey of the current approaches in pattern recognition. In this field the classification processes of patterns are the main subject of interest. The most conventional techniques used to solve pattern recognition problems may be grouped into statistical, structural and hybrid methods of the previous two ones. The artificial intelligence approach to pattern recognition...

A model is proposed that relates opportunity recognition to pattern recognition—the process through which individuals perceive emergent patterns among seemingly unrelated stimuli or events. This model suggests that because of their unique knowledge structures (e.g., prototypes, exemplars), specific persons perceive patterns among emerging changes in technology, markets, demographics, etc. that ...

-The purpose of this study focused on the learning behavior and performance of asynchronous distance learning with face recognition system among in-service teachers. Web set up the "distance learning – Excel practical course" for K-12 school teachers enrollment in-service education at the Nationwide Teacher In-service Education Information Web. There are 48 Participants. In this study, teacher'...

This survey compares internal representations of the recent as well as more traditional face recognition techniques to classify them into several broad categories. The categories assessed include template matching and feature measurements, analysis of global and local facial features, and incorporation of interpersonal and intrapersonal variations of human faces. Analysis of the face recognitio...

The paper has established and veri ed the theory prevailing widely among image and pattern recognition specialists that the bottom-up indirect regional matching process is the more stable and the more robust than the global matching process against concentrated types of noise represented by clutter, outlier or occlusion in the imagery. We have demonstrated this by analyzing the e ect of concent...

In this paper, a robust and efficient face recognition system based on luminance distribution by using maximum likelihood estimation is proposed. The distribution of luminance components of the face region is acquired and applied to maximum likelihood test for face matching. The experimental results showed that the proposed method has a high recognition rate and requires less computation time.

Finding human faces automatically in an image is a diicult yet important rst step to a fully automatic face recognition system. It is also an interesting academic problem because a successful face detection system can provide valuable insight on how one might approach other similar object and pattern detection problems. This paper presents an example-based learning approach for locating vertica...

This paper presents a new method for holistic face representation, called spectroface. Spectroface representation combines the wavelet transform and the Fourier transform. We have shown that by decomposing a face image using wavelet transform, the low-frequency face image is less sensitive to the facial expression variations. This paper also proves that the spectroface representation is invaria...
