X-ray absorption spectral (XAS) analysis is performed with a combination of a 9 V dry electric battery X-ray generator and a portable Si PIN X-ray detector. The calcium K edge (4.0 keV) in paper is measured with a grazing incidence geometry, which suppressed the artifact due to the Kalpha X-ray fluorescence peak at 3.5 keV. The 9 V dry battery X-ray emitter is useful for portable XAS measurements.

New data are presented on J/ψ → ωKK from a sample of 58M J/ψ events in the upgraded BES II detector at the BEPC. There is a conspicuous signal for f0(1710) → KK and a peak at higher mass which may be fitted with f2(2150) → KK̄. From a combined analysis with ωππ data, the branching ratio BR(f0(1710) → ππ)/BR(f0(1710) → KK̄) is < 0.11 at the 95% confidence level. PACS: 13.25.Gv, 14.40.Gx, 13.40.Hq

We present π − Ξ correlation analysis in Au-Au collisions at sNN = 200 GeV and √ sNN = 62.4 GeV , performed using the STAR detector at RHIC. Using a sample of 58 million J/ψ events recorded in the BESII detector, the decay J/ψ → ωπ+π− is studied. There are conspicuous ωf2(1270) and b1(1235)π signals. At low ππ mass, a large broad peak due to the σ is observed, and its pole position is determined to be (541 ± 39) i (252 ± 42) MeV from the mean of six analyses.
