The sedimentaion of amyloplasts in tomato leaf petiole cells, when influenced by gravistimulation, gravistimulation and phytohormone epine, an exogenous source ethylene ethephon for a period 0.25–24 h, was demonstrated. Ethephone significantly slowed down the sedimentation serving as statolytes which correlates with its inhibitory effect on formation gravitropic bending stem.

Two new species of the genus Timia Wiedemann, 1824 are described and illustrated. Timia lazebnayae sp. n. from Uzbekistan has yellow body and is similar to Timia gobica Zaitzev, 1982, differing from it only by the entirely yellow flagellomere 1. Timia shatalkini sp. n. from Mongolia has dark body and differs from all other dark-colored representatives of the genus by the cell r4+5 being complet...

The fossil evaniid wasp Cretevania bechlyi sp. nov., is described based on a well preserved female specimen from Cretaceous Burmese amber. The new species is placed in the genus Cretevania Rasnitsyn, 1975 based on the elongation of the mid and hind trochantellus, the fore wing venation (e.g. first marginal cell triangular and broad, 2m-cu absent, second sub-marginal cell separated from first di...

A new anatomically preserved fern, discovered from the basalmost Carboniferous of Australia, shows a unique combination of very primitive anatomical characters (solid centrarch cauline protostele) with the elaboration of an original model of the arborescent habit. This plant possessed a false trunk composed of a repetitive branching system of very small stems, which established it as the oldest...

The aim of this study was to evaluate phenotypic variation of R0 androgenic plants obtained from four seed sources and donor plants by anther culture. Several morphological traits (leaf size, petiole length, leaf division, cortex colour) and the range of diversity were evaluated. There was large variation in all traits among the donor varieties. Especially leaf division and cortex colour differ...

There have been several reports of light effe-cts on the movement of growth-regulating substances in plants. Shen-Miller and Gordon (6) found that phototropically active blue light decreased the basipetal movement of IAA in Zca coleoptile sections. Similarly, Thornton and Thimann (7) *observed that blue light induced a transient decrease in the basipetal movement of IAA in Avena coleoptile tiss...

Eriotheca gracilipes concept is re-circumscribed according to the shape and texture of leaflets, diameter petiole, calyx color, seed striation geographic distribution. In addition, a new species (Eriotheca uniflora) combination crenulata) are proposed here. Descriptions, identification key, taxonomic comments, distribution, phenology conservation status, images diagnostic characteristics table ...

Field trials with Spathiphyllum wallisii Regel were conducted at the experimental farm of Faculty of Agriculture, University Azad Jiroft in 2012 growth seasons. The aim of this work is to study the effect of foliar application with benzyladenine (BA) at 0, 100, 200 and 400 mg.L-1 and gibberellic acid (GA3) at 0, 100 and 200 mg.L-1 on the vegetative grow...

The expression of 28 high light (HL)-responsive genes of Arabidopsis was analysed in response to environmental and physiological factors known to influence the expression of the HL-responsive gene, ASCORBATE PEROXIDASE2 (APX2). Most (81%) of the HL-responsive genes, including APX2, required photosynthetic electron transport for their expression, and were responsive to abscisic acid (ABA; 68%), ...

Variation of leaf morphology in Papaveraceae s.l. (including Fumariaceae and Pteridophyllum) has previously been shown to be related to developmental differences in the direction of segmentation and in blade-petiole differentiation. Based on ontogenetic comparisons, we here distinguish polyternate, acropetal, basipetal-pedate, basipetal-pinnate, and divergent modes of dissection. In addition, u...
