This paper presents a novel heuristic for graph coloring that works on a range of colors and iteratively tries to make this range more compact. This range-compaction heuristic also has a \pressure" component and an annealing schedule for it. The value of this component is empirically quanti ed. This algorithm is evaluated on a wide range of DIMACS benchmark graphs, and found to be competitive w...

In the chiral title compound, C(15)H(22)N(4)O(2)S(2), there are two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit with distinctly different conformations, as quanti-fied by torsion angles. The dihedral angles between the thio-imidazole rings are 81.59 (5) and 67.04 (4)°. One mol-ecule exhibits local twofold rotation symmetry, while the other displays no local symmetry. Inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S inter...

The title Schiff base compound, C(8)H(7)ClN(4)O(2)S, was prepared by the reaction of equimolar quanti-ties of 2-chloro-5-nitro-benzaldehyde with thio-semicarbazide in methanol. The mol-ecule adopts a trans configuration with respect to the azomethine group and the dihedral angle between the benzene ring and the thio-semicarbazide group is 6.8 (3)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked through ...

The title compound, C(14)H(19)NO(4)S, was obtained in quanti-tative yield by Lewis acid-catalysed alcoholysis of a phtalimide precursor. An intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs. In the crystal, centrosymmetric dimers are formed by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the sulfinyl O atoms and the carbamoyl N-H group of a neighboring mol-ecule. C-H⋯O inter-actions feature in the crystal st...

The title compound, C(15)H(13)BrClNO, is a Schiff base derived from the condensation of equimolar quanti-ties of 3-bromo-5-chloro-salicylaldehyde and 1-phenyl-ethanamine. The structure displays a trans configuration with respect to the imine C=N double bond. The N atom is also involved in an intra-molecular O-H-N hydrogen bond, which stabilizes the configuration of the compound.

In the study of the decay of a heavy scalar particle at rest in the Yukawa model at the one and two loop level, it is shown explicitly that naive light-cone quanti-zation leads to a violation of rotational invariance. Noncovariant counterterms are constructed in detail to restore Lorentz covxiance. An analysis of surface and zero mode contributions clxifies the origin of the problem.

We describe three orthogonal complexity measures parallel time amount of hardware and degree of non uniformity which together parametrize most complexity classes We show that the descriptive com plexity framework neatly captures these measures using three parameters quanti er depth number of variables and type of numeric predicates re spectively A fairly simple picture arises in which the basic...

This paper proposes a computable, tone-driven method to model phrasal pitch movements in standard Chinese by (1) formulating physical constraints for phonetic control mechanisms, (2) de ning four phrasal tones quanti ed by model parameters for generating phrasal tunes, and (3) forming phrasal pitch movements by mapping lexical tones onto phrasal tunes. Several experiments con rm the method's va...

There are various amino acids measured by different qualitatives and quanti tatives methods in the brain, such as glutamic acid**, glutamine, ry-aminobutyric acid, aspartic acid, etc. and many reactions such as transamination, decarboxyla tion, amination, deamination or glycolysis, have proved the existence of relation ship to the changes of these amino acids in brain. These facts suggest us th...

The prediction of outstanding loss liabilities for a non-life run-o -portfolio as well as the quanti cation of the prediction error is one of the most important actuarial tasks in non-life insurance. In this paper we consider this prediction problem in a multivariate context. More precisely, we derive the predictive distribution of the claims reserves simultaneously for several correlated run-o...
