Squarers modulo M are useful design blocks for digital signal processors that internally use a residue number system and for implementing the exponentiators required in cryptographic algorithms. In these applications, some of the most commonly used moduli are those of the form 2+1. To avoid using (n+1)-bit circuits, the diminished-1 number system can be effectively used in modulo 2+1 arithmetic...

In this brief, a read-only-memoryless structure for binaryto-residue number system (RNS) conversion modulo {2n±k} is proposed. This structure is based only on adders and constant multipliers. This brief is motivated by the existing {2n ± k} binary-to-RNS converters, which are particular inefficient for larger values of n. The experimental results obtained for 4n and 8n bits of dynamic range sug...

In a previous paper, using an equation of state of dense matter representing a fluid of Skyrmions we constructed the corresponding non-rotating compact-star models in hydrostatic equilibrium; these are mostly fluid stars (the Skyrmion fluid) thus naming them Skyrmion Stars. Here we generalize our previous calculations by constructing equilibrium sequences of rotating Skyrmion stars in general r...

REGISTERED NURSES (RNS) COMprise the largest group of health care professionals in the United States, with more than 2.0 million RNs employed in health care organizations in 1998. This profession has experienced substantial changes during the last decade. However, little attention has been given to the change in the age structure of the RN workforce. Data from the Census Current Population Surv...

Clock distribution has become an increasingly challenging problem for VLSI designs because of the increase in die size and integration levels, along with stronger requirements for integrated circuit speed and reliability. Additionally, the great amount of synchronous hardware in integrated circuits makes current requirements to be very large at very precise instants. This paper presents a new a...

Performing RSA public and private key operations fast is increasingly important. In this paper I describe an eecient implementation of RSA for a highly parallel computer. I present a new algorithm for modular multiplication using a residue number system (RNS) and a variation of Montgomery's method. The heart of the algorithm is a new method for converting from one RNS to another.

Reaction of 5S RNA with chlorocetaldehyde leads to the conversion of unpaired adenines to the fluorescent 1,N6-etheno-adenine derivatives. Up to 16 of the 23 adenines in free 5S RNA can be modified, the fastest reacting are A29, A34, A57-59. Partial modification of adenines in this area results in a 20% reduction in the efficiency of 5S RNA incorporation into 50S subunits during reconstitution ...

We propose the first general multiplication algorithm in GF (2k) with a subquadratic area complexity of O(k8/5) = O(k1.6). We represent the elements of GF (2k) according to 2n pairwise prime trinomials, T1, . . . , T2n, of degree d, such that nd ≥ k. Our algorithm is based on Montgomery’s multiplication applied to the ring formed by the direct product of the n first trinomials.

Agricultural residues are the largest potential near term source of biomass for bioenergy production. Sustainable use of agricultural residues for bioenergy production requires consideration of the important role that residues play in maintaining soil health and productivity. Innovation equipment designs for residue harvesting systems can help economically collect agricultural residues while mi...

The analysis and implementation of a CAD tool that can generate the structural description of converters for the Residue Arithmetic System (RNS), assisting the engineer in the architecture level exploration, is presented. The above description is based on a previous proposed architecture [I]. [2], which has been reported as an efficient known to date in terms of area and delay. The outputs of t...
