In Pseudomonas syringae pv. phaseolicola the enzyme ornithine carbamoyltransferase (OCTase), encoded by argF, is negatively regulated by argR, similar to what has been reported for Pseudomonas aeruginosa. However, production of the phaseolotoxin-resistant OCTase encoded by argK, synthesis of phaseolotoxin, and infectivity for bean pods occur independently of the ArgR protein.

in a period of nine months, 225 strains of gram-negative bacilli isolated from burns were identified by a variety of tests in two burn centers in tehran. the most common species were pseudomonas aeruginosa, pseudomonas fluorescens, escherichia coli, enterobacter agglomerans, enterobacter cloacae and klebsiella pneumoniae. many strains of acinetobacter spp, providencia spp, proteus spp, serratia...

conclusions the results of this study show that the rate of p. aeruginosa-caused burn wound infections was very high, and many of the isolates were resistant to three or more classes of antimicrobials. such extensive resistance to antimicrobial classes is important because few treatment options remain for patients with burn wound infections. blaimp-producing p. aeruginosa isolates are a rising ...

Abstract Background and purpose: Multiple drug-resistant (MDR) bacterial strains have spread in different parts of hospitals. The aim of this study was to design and synthesize an effective hybrid peptide by combining different parts of two peptides to achieve the highest antibacterial activity and its inhibitory effect against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains. Materia...

A total of 20 serious infections were treated with piperacillin. These infections included bacteremias (5), pneumonias (5), urinary tract infections (5), soft tissue infections (3), septic arthritis (1), and osteomyelitis (1). The most common bacterial pathogen was Pseudomonas aeruginosa, accounting for eight infections. The clinical and bacteriological response rates were 75 and 70%, respectiv...

Introduction If auricular perichondritis is left untreated or sub optimally managed the development of a subperiosteal abscess with potential cartilage loss and gross cosmetic defect may ensue. Materials and Methods A retrospective review was conducted to identify the cause, microbiology, management and outcome of patients presenting with pinna abscess over a 5-year period at a tertiary hospita...

OBJECTIVE This study aims to determine the prevalence and susceptibility pattern of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and multidrug-resistant (MDR) isolates in patients suffering from respiratory tract infection. METHODS A cross sectional study was conducted from January to December 2014 in Northwest General Hospital and Research Centre, Peshawar. A total of 615 sputum samples were collected from both i...

Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one leading gram-negative organism associated with nosocomial infections. Bacteremia is life-threatening in the immunocompromised host. Increasing frequency of multi-drug-resistant (MDRPA) strains is concerning. We started a retrospective survey in the pediatric hematology oncology Italian network. Between 2000 and 2008, 127 patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa bactere...

The aim of the present study was to investigate the molecular mechanism of carbapenem resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates recovered from Libyan hospitals between April 2013 and April 2014. In total, 49 strains (24 P. aeruginosa and 25 A. baumannii) were isolated, including 21 P. aeruginosa and 22 A. baumannii isolates (87.75%) resistant to imipenem...

Antimicrobial resistance is an emerging problem with Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This study determined risk factors for the recovery of piperacillin-tazobactam-resistant P. aeruginosa from clinical cultures from hospitalized patients. A case-control study design was used to compare two groups of case patients with control patients. The first group of case patients was defined by nosocomial isolatio...
