Wireless operation of the LC resonant sensor is based on magnetic coupling between two inductive coils, where inductor acts as a secondary coil for coupling. An external reader used primary to interrogate detect sensor’s response. The wireless applied in many applications cable connections powe...

induction heating is widely used in metal industry for melting or heating thin slabs in a continuous casting plant. the wide application is based on good efficiency, high production rate and non-polluting conditions. for designing a parallel resonant induction heating system, calculating the capacitance for the resonant circuit is important, because its value affects resonance frequency, output...

We describe approaches to enhance localized surface plasmons by placing metallic nanoparticles into two different structures: (i) Fabry-Perot (F-P) resonant cavities, and (ii) Photonic crystal slot waveguides. Through synchronization of the plasmonic and resonant modes, electric field at the surface of the nanoparticles is enhanced by a factor of 4~20 compared with the nanoparticles in free spa...

sensors are the closest available systems to this ideal. For the more commonly used manometric systems, the total measuring chain, consisting of catheter or cannula, tubing, stopcocks and transducer, has a much lower resonant frequency, and damping is therefore vital for increasing accuracy. Optimally damped systems can accurately reproduce frequencies up to 67% of the resonant frequency. An op...

Thumbnail-sized inertial measurement systems based on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology have been perceived as a breakthrough in the field of inertial navigation. However, even as micromechanical accelerometers have seen widespread commercialization, vibratory micromechanical gyroscopes have not enjoyed similar success. Previous approaches to high-performance micromechanical gy...

Hydrogels have gained wide usage in a range of biomedical applications because of their biocompatibility and the ability to finely tune their properties, including viscoelasticity. The use of hydrogels on the microscale is increasingly important for the development of drug delivery techniques and cellular microenvironments, though the ability to accurately characterize their micromechanical pro...

Diamagnetic levitation offers stable confinement of an object from its environment at zero power, and thus is a promising technique for developing next generation unclamped resonant sensors. In this work, we realize weighing scale using graphite plate that diamagnetically levitating over checkerboard arrangement permanent magnets. We characterize the bending vibrations laser Doppler vibrometry ...

The detection of biomarkers in the liquid phase using mechanical sensors is difficult because of noise caused by the liquid. To reduce and verify the side effects of liquid loading, we performed calculations and experiments to determine the shift in resonant frequency according to the loading conditions. A 2-μm-thick piezoelectric rectangular micro-diaphragm with a 500 × 500 μm membrane was use...

Thanks to resonant excitation of surface plasmons, SPR sensors including ferromagnetic thin films allow the enhancement of the magneto-optical response. MO-SPR structures with Au/Co/Au sandwiches are theoretically analyzed in transverse configuration. The influence of sandwich film thicknesses and layer order is discussed. The optimized geometry and corresponding feedback are specified.

Nanoelectromechanical systems sNEMSd are drawing interest from both technical and scientific communities. These are electromechanical systems, much like microelectromechanical systems, mostly operated in their resonant modes with dimensions in the deep submicron. In this size regime, they come with extremely high fundamental resonance frequencies, diminished active masses, and tolerable force c...
