In Arabidopsis thaliana, lateral roots are formed from root pericycle cells adjacent to the xylem poles. Lateral root development is regulated antagonistically by the plant hormones auxin and cytokinin. While a great deal is known about how auxin promotes lateral root development, the mechanism of cytokinin repression is still unclear. Elevating cytokinin levels was observed to disrupt lateral ...

Knowing the root distribution in soil is essential for estimating water uptake by plant roots. It is difficult, however, to characterize and model undisturbed root systems. Root development in a two-dimensional potential field is simulated with the dielectric breakdown model (DBM), which implies a similarity between electric discharge and root distribution. A weighted potential gradient with an...

The Gorgan Bay is an important ecosystem receiving discharge from their tributaries. In this study, concentration of Pb, Zn, Ni, Fe, Al, Cu and As was seasonally determined at 22 sampling points during 2012-2013.Sediment samples were collected using a Van Veen grab. The levels of heavy metals were determined by ICP-AES (Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry) and AAS (Atomic Ab...

The ability to predict the spatial distribution of tree root system variables (e.g., Root Area (RA), maximum diameter, number roots in diameter classes, density fine roots, etc.) under different environmental conditions is relevant several scientific disciplines and engineering practice. In this work, three well known analytical models from literature are assembled into a unique framework calle...

Water level data obtained from telemetry stations typically contains large number of outliers. Anomaly detection and a imputation are necessary steps in monitoring system. can be detected if its values lie outside normal pattern distribution. We developed median-based statistical outlier approach using sliding window technique. In order to fill anomalies, various interpolation techniques were c...

This paper defines and studies the notion of primitive root of a bi-periodic infinite picture, that is a rectangular pattern that tiles the bi-periodic picture and contains exactly one representative of each equivalence class of its pixels. This notion extends to dimension 2 the notion of primitive root of a bi-infinite periodic word. We prove that, for each bi-periodic infinite picture P, Ź th...

The timing of fine root production and turnover strongly influences both the seasonal potential for soil resource acquisition among competing root systems and the plant fluxes of root carbon into soil pools. However, basic patterns and variability in the rates and timing or fine root production and turnover are generally unknown among perennial plants species. We address this shortfall using a ...
