The response of the periodontal membrane to reimplanted teeth carrying amalgam restorations in the middle third of their roots was studied from seven days to six months after grafting. The study revealed that the amalgam restorations produced an initial localized inflammation in the periodontal tissues that subsided subsequently with the formation of a pseudocapsule.

the aim of this study was to introduce modified continuous wave compaction (mcwc) technique and compare its obturation quality with that of lateral compaction (lc), warm vertical compaction (wvc) and continuous wave compaction techniques (cwc). the obturation time was also compared among the four techniques.sixty-four single-rooted teeth with 0-5° root canal curve and 64 artificially created ro...

The consistency between student clinical performance in dental school and performance on initial licensure examinations is known to be weak. A review of the literature failed to identify any reports of the consistency between performance on initial licensure examinations and quality of technical work in practice. This research examines the consistency of performance among candidates who took tw...

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the root-end sealing ability through dye leakage evaluation and the marginal adaptation through scanning electron microscopy (SEM) of some root-end filling materials. Thirty human uniradicular teeth were used. Teeth were divided into three groups: (1) retrofilled with MTA-Angelus, (2) with SuperEBA, and (3) with Vitremer. The root surfaces were isolated...

Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has emerged as a reliable bioactive material with extended applications in endodontics that include the obturation of the root canal space. This article examines the literature supporting MTA as a canal filling material, suggests methods for its delivery and placement, and presents clinical cases that demonstrate its effectiveness in resolving apical periodontit...

Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) is a powder containing calcium silicate composed of hydrophilic particles which harden at the presence of moisture. MTA was initially introduced as a root end filling material. Due its practical advantages that include superior biocompatility, effective sealing capability, and the ability to improve regeneration of the pulp and peripheral root tissues, it is use...

The purpose of this study was to compare the clinical, radiographic, and histo[ogic changes that occur in response to three of the most commonly used materials to repair furcation perforations. The results of the experiment showed that amalgam was superior to Cavit and calcium hydroxide as a sealing material of furcation perforations. The most severe reactions occurred in the control group wher...

INTRODUCTION The provision of an effective apical seal is an essential factor when choosing an appropriate material for success of root-end surgeries. Root-end resection, preparation and obturation should provide an adequate apical seal. The aim of this in vitro study was to investigate bacterial and dye microleakage of four different root-end filling materials and compare the efficacy of these...

This study aimed to compare the apical sealing of root-end fillings performed with Lysanda (zinc oxide-eugenol paste) with radiopacifiers (iodoform or zinc oxide) and calcium hydroxide. Root-end cavities were prepared and filled with different materials, as follows: Group I - Lysanda paste with iodoform; Group II - Lysanda paste with iodoform and calcium hydroxide; Group III - Lysanda paste wit...
