A three-component reaction of (E)-2-ethynylphenylchalcone, sulfonyl azide, and amine catalyzed by copper(I) chloride (5 mol%), in the presence of triethylamine, under mild conditions is described. This transformation proceeds efficiently to generate 1,2-dihydroisoquinolin-3(4H)-imines in good to excellent yields.
A new high oxidation state Mn(III/IV)(11) carboxylate complex has been prepared and then converted to a Mn(II/III)(25) azide/carboxylate cluster with Me(3)SiN(3); the Mn(25) product is the initial example of a higher oxidation state Mn azide complex not stabilized by any chelate ligands.
The room temperature 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of the boron azide, Cy2BN3 with the electron-poor acetylenes RCO2C≡CCO2R, EtC≡CCOMe and HC≡CP(=O)Ph2 afforded new 1,2,3-triazoles. In the case of RCO2C≡CCO2R, a new macrocyclic product was isolated with loss of the R group.
In April 2010, Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) staff members investigated reports of acute-onset dizziness among patrons in a local restaurant. Symptoms, which included fainting resulting from low blood pressure, occurred within minutes of consuming food from the restaurant and were consistent with chemical poisoning. Toxicologic and epidemiologic investigations were begun to de...
In the course of studies on the adaptive fermentation of galaetose by yeast, the effects of a number of enzyme inhibitors on the adaptive process and the subsequent fermentation were investigated. The results of these experiments as they bear on the problem of adaptation have been discussed in a preliminary communication (1). However, one interesting point emerged in concentration curves fgr tw...
Total syntheses of 4-methylthio-3-butenylisothiocyanate (MTBI, 1) and raphanusanin (2), which are growth inhibitors involved in the phototropism radish (Raphanus sativus) hypocotyls, were achieved from commercially available thiolane four five steps, respectively. MTBI (1) was prepared via ring opening with sodium azide, double bond introduction by oxidation, isothiocyanation. Cyclization to (2...
Antimicrobial photodynamic inactivation (APDI) using phenothiazinium dyes is mediated by reactive oxygen species consisting of a combination of singlet oxygen (quenched by azide), hydroxyl radicals and other reactive oxygen species. We recently showed that addition of sodium azide paradoxically potentiated APDI of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria using methylene blue as the photosensiti...
Previous studies demonstrated methane generation in aerobic cells. Our aims were to investigate the methanogenic features of sodium azide (NaN(3))-induced chemical hypoxia in the whole animal and to study the effects of l-α-glycerylphosphorylcholine (GPC) on endogenous methane production and inflammatory events as indicators of a NaN(3)-elicited mitochondrial dysfunction. Group 1 of Sprague-Daw...
A supported gold nanoparticle-catalyzed strategy has been utilized to promote a click chemistry reaction for the synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles via azide-alkyne cycloaddition (AAC) reaction. While advent effective non-copper catalysts (i.e., Ru, Ag, Ir) demonstrated catalysis AAC reaction, additional robust catalytic systems complementary copper catalyzed remain in high demand. Herein, Au nanopar...
In the title compound, C(11)H(8)N(6)O(4)S, the plane of the coumarin aromatic ring is twisted by 17.2 (2)° with respect to the plane of the azide group bound to the methyl-ene substituent, whereas it is twisted by 83.2 (2)° to the plane of the azide attached to the sulfonyl group. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions, leading to the formation of dimers with R(2) (2)(1...
