We investigate the dynamics of a kicked particle in an infinite square well undergoing frequent measurements of energy. For a large class of periodic kicking forces, constant diffusion is found in such a non-Kolmogorov-Arnol'd-Moser system. The influence of a phase shift of the kicking potential on the short-time dynamical behavior is discussed. The general asymptotical measurement-assisted dif...

Combined with an approximation suggested by Taylor and Lipson for the third-order correlation function and the translational invariance approximation, the BGY equation is used to calculate the conformation and thermodynamic properties of a diblock square-well copolymer or a random square-well copolymer. The BGY results for the end-to-end distribution of copolymers are in good agreement with Mon...

Recently we have studied, using numerical simulations, a limited valency model, i.e. an attractive square well model with a constraint on the maximum number of bonded neighbors. Studying a large region of temperatures T and packing fractions φ, we have estimated the location of the liquid-gas phase separation spinodal and the loci of dynamic arrest, where the system is trapped in a disordered n...

We develop a series solution for the bound-state energy levels of the quantum-mechanical one-dimensional finite square-well potential. We show that this general solution is useful for local approximations of the energy spectrum ~which target a particular energy range of the potential well for high accuracy!, for global approximations of the energy spectrum ~which provide analytic expressions of...

Vapor–liquid interfacial tension of square-well ~SW! fluids is calculated using three different methods viz., molecular dynamics ~MD! with collision-based virial evaluation, Monte Carlo with virial computed by volume perturbation, and Binder’s density-distribution method in conjunction with grand-canonical transition-matrix Monte Carlo ~GC-TMMC!. Three values of the SW attractive well range par...

We develop the kinetic theory of dilute cohesive granular gases in which the attractive part is described by a square well potential. We derive the hydrodynamic equations from the kinetic theory with the microscopic expressions for the dissipation rate and the transport coefficients. We check the validity of our theory by performing the direct simulation Monte Carlo.

We compute the singular value decomposition of the radial distribution function g(r) for hard sphere, and square well solutions. We find that g(r) decomposes into a small set of basis vectors allowing for an extremely accurate representation at all interpolated densities and potential strengths. In addition, we find that the coefficient vectors describing the magnitude of each basis vector are ...

It is shown that the α−dynamo of Magnetohydrodynamics, the hydrodynamic Squire equation as well as an interpolation model of PT −symmetric Quantum Mechanics are closely related as spectral problems in Krein spaces. For the α−dynamo and the PT −symmetric model the strong similarities are demonstrated with the help of a 2 × 2 operator matrix representation, whereas the Squire equation is re-inter...

A semi-empirical equation of state was developed for square-well chain fluids on the basis of Monte Carlo (MC) simulation data. The equation was formed by combining terms describing non-bonded square-well segments, hard-sphere chain formation, and a perturbation term describing the square-well contribution to chain formation. The functional dependence on the chain length is the same as that der...
