Molybdenum phosphide was adopted as a new electrocatalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction for the first time, exhibiting an excellent electrocatalytic activity with a small Tafel slope of 60 mV dec(-1), which is amongst the most active, acid-stable, earth abundant HER electrocatalysts reported to date.
A template-engaged strategy is used to synthesize nanostructured metal phosphides with different compositions. Among the as-synthesized metal phosphides, nickel cobalt phosphides quasi-hollow nanocubes exhibit the best electrocatalytic activity for hydrogen evolution reaction in terms of lower overpotential and smaller Tafel slope in alkaline solution.
By controlling the ratio of tri- and bi-valent ions, multi-transition metal based layered double hydroxide (LDH) ultrathin nanosheets are synthesized. They show advanced OER performance with low overpotentials (∼0.2 V) and decreased Tafel slopes with increasing Co incorporation due to the modulated electronic structures of catalytic centers and the increased surface area and electronic conducti...
The layered ternary chalcogenide, palladium phosphorous sulphide (PdPS), and its composite with reduced graphene oxide are shown to be efficient hydrogen evolution electrocatalysts. The Tafel slope and the exchange current density values associated with hydrogen evolution reaction are determined to be 46 mV dec(-1) and 1.4 × 10(-4) A cm(-2) respectively.
A substantial part of corrosion research relies on the analysis polarization curves to obtain currents, Tafel slopes, and other parameters, such as exchange current densities. This, often manual, remains highly subjective, which hampers reproducibility makes a comparison reported rates, or densities from different literature sources difficult. One reason is that strongly influenced by selected ...
