An achievable rate region for line networks with edge and node capacity constraints and broadcast channels (BCs) is derived. The region is shown to be the capacity region if the BCs are orthogonal, deterministic, physically degraded, or packet erasure with one-bit feedback. If the BCs are physically degraded with additive Gaussian noise then independent Gaussian inputs achieve capacity.

Background: The exposure of human being to ionize radiation from natural sources is a continuing, inescapable feature of life on earth. Direct measurement of absorbed dose rates in air has been carried out in many countries of the world during the last few decades. Such investigations can be useful for assessment of public dose rates, the performance of epidemiological studies, and kee...

To understand the properties and significance of highly radioactive particles in marine environment, we have examined seafloor sediment with a radioactivity ?1200 Bq/kg (dry weight; after decay correction to March 2011) collected 35 km northeast Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP). Among 697 separated from sediment, two particles, D1-MAX D1-MID, had total Cs ?56 0.67 Bq (after 2011), ...

By having implemented digital terrestrial television (DTT) in Latin American countries and taking into account their ability to develop interactive services, new possibilities have been opened for improved connectivity in rural areas and those with difficult access by using applications that enable ubiquitous communication. In order to transfer the existing knowledge from Spain and Europe, the ...

The Internet has long outgrown its beginnings as a message system. It now hosts a multitude of video and audio applications. However, the current quality of real time delivery is insufficient for streaming media video. This paper examines what is needed to improve this quality to acceptable levels by considering the issues involved for the Internet to support broadcast television.

In this paper, we describe the design and implementation of a software video production switcher, vps, that improves the quality of MBone broadcasts. vps is modeled after the broadcast television industry's studio production switcher. It provides special e ects processing to incorporate audience discussions, add titles and other information, and integrate stored videos into the presentation. vp...

BACKGROUND In boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT), positron emission tomography (PET) with 4-borono-2-18F-fluoro-phenylalanine (FBPA) is the only method to estimate an accumulation of 10B to target tumor and surrounding normal tissue after administering 10B carrier of L-paraboronophenylalanine and to search the indication of BNCT for individual patient. Absolute concentration of 10B in tumor h...
