One-dimensional thin-layer chromatography on polyamide plates offers an easy and rapid identification of O-phosphotyrosine. The thin-layer plate is developed for 30 min in 5% propionic acid containing 0.013%-0.025% sodium dodecyl sulfate. O-Phosphotyrosine, with Rf = 0.54, can be well separated from O-phosphothreonine and O-phosphoserine, which comigrate at Rf = 0.72.

This paper investigates the problem of path planning for a thin elastic plate. The underlying geometric model for the plate is provided by a B ezier representation. The geometric model is augmented by a realistic mechanical model. The latter permits the computation of the shape of the plate with respect to a set of grasping constraints by minimizing the elastic energy of the deformation. We use...

A description of self-stress produced by hydrogen absorption into thin metallic circular-plates with clamped edges is presented. The plate deflects when the average hydrogen content exceeds a critical value, which depends mainly on the size of the plate, if no external load is applied; the plate distortion exhibits bistable characteristics, i.e. the deflection direction may be either upward or ...

Free asymmetric transverse vibration of a polar orthotropic thin annular plate with parabolically varying thickness in radial direction have been computed on the basis of classical plate theory considering both the peripheries of the plate elastically restrained against translation and rotation. The fourth order linear differential equation with variable coefficients governing the motion in the...

The pull-in voltage instability associated with a simple MEMS device, consisting of a thin dielectric elastic membrane supported above a rigid conducting ground plate, is analyzed. The upper surface of the membrane is coated with a thin conducting film. In a certain asymptotic limit representing a thin device, the mathematical model consists of a nonlinear partial differential equation for the ...

In the present article, buckling analysis of functionally graded annular thin and moderately thick plates under mechanical and thermal loads is investigated. The equilibrium and stability equations of the plate are obtained based on both classical and first order shear deformation plate theories. By using an analytical method, the coupled stability equations are converted to independent equatio...

Dynamic von-Kármán plate models consist of three coupled non-linear, time-dependent partial differential equations. These equations have been recently solved numerically [Kirby, R., Yosibash, Z., 2004. Solution of von-Kármán dynamic non-linear plate equations using a pseudo-spectral method. Comp. Meth. Appl. Mech. Eng. 193 (6–8) 575–599 and Yosibash, Z., Kirby, R., Gottlieb, D., 2004. Pseudo-sp...

This article has studied the effect of ratio of stiffness and thickness between piezoelectric actuators and host plat has been explored on optimal pattern for placement of piezoelectric work pieces around a hole in thin isotropic plate under static loading to reduce stress concentration. The piezoelectric actuators reduce directly or indirectly the stress concentration by applying positive and ...

Based on classical plate theory, standard and spectral finite element methods are extended for vibration and dynamic stability of axially moving thin plates subjected to in-plane forces. The formulation of the standard method earned through Hamilton’s principle is independent of element type. But for solving numerical examples, an isoparametric quadrilateral element is developed using Lagrange ...
