CNPSo 1112(T) is a nitrogen-fixing symbiont of perennial soybean, a tropical legume forage. Its draft genome indicates a large genome with a circular chromosome and 9,554 coding sequences (CDSs). Operons of nodulation, nitrogen fixation, and uptake hydrogenase were present in the symbiotic island, and the genome encompasses several CDSs of stress tolerance.
Several approaches were taken to examine the role of N-assimilate supply in the control of soybean (Glycine max) seed composition. In the first study, developing seeds were grown in vitro with D-[U-14C]sucrose (Suc) and different concentrations of Gln. Light stimulated carbon flux into oil and protein, and was required to sustain Suc uptake and anabolic processes under conditions of elevated ni...
Soybean (Glycine max) and pea (Pisum sativum) differ in the transport of fixed nitrogen from nodules to shoots. The dominant nitrogen transport compounds for soybean are ureides, while amides dominate in pea. A possible enzymic basis for this difference was examined. The level of enzymes involved in the formation of the ureides allantoin and allantoic acid from inosine 5'-monophosphate (IMP) was...
The effect of soybean meal, feather meal and hair meal on dry matter (DM), energy and nitrogen (N) utilization by growing steers was evaluated in three metabolism studies. Feather meal (FM) and hair meal (HM) protein were substituted for 25, 50 and 75% (Exp. 1, 2 and 3, respectively) of the soybean meal (SBM) protein in pelleted protein supplements and fed in whole-shelled, corn-ground corncob ...
an experiment was conducted to study the effects of an emulsifier (glycerol polyethylene glycol ricinoleate: gpgr) and different sources of fat on the performance of khaki campbell ducks. ducks were assigned into five groups with three replicates (10 ducks/replicate) in each group. treatments were a control diet (c1: without added oil and emulsifier), control diet added with 2% soybean oil (c2)...
investigating the decomposition of crop residues using woodborn and soilborn saprophytic fungi this experiment was conduceted to evaluate the effect of some fungi on decomposition of crop residues. crop residues from rice, wheat, cotton, canola and soybean were inoculated with pleurotus ostreatus, phanerochaete chrysoporium, aspergillus niger and trichoderma viride in vitro. after 30 days, hemi...
Rapid expansion and intensification of crop agriculture in the tropics may accelerate ecosystem losses reactive nitrogen (N). We quantified emissions nitric oxide (NO) nitrous (N2O) forest, single-cropped soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.], N-fertilized double-cropped soybean–maize (Zea mays L.) at three N fertilizer levels within largest area recent cropland on earth, Amazon Cerrado biomes Brazi...
Intensive agricultural systems are largely responsible for the increase in global reactive nitrogen compounds, which are associated with significant environmental impacts. The nitrogen cycle in agricultural systems is complex and highly variable, which complicates characterization in environmental assessments. Appropriately representing nitrogen inputs into an ecosystem is essential to better u...
