We present the first thorough theoretical analysis of the Transitivity Editing problem on digraphs. Herein, the task is to perform a minimum number of arc insertions or deletions in order to make a given digraph transitive. This problem has recently been identified as important for the detection of hierarchical structure in molecular characteristics of disease. Mixing up Transitivity Editing wi...
We define necessary and sufficient conditions on prices and incomes under which quantity choices can violate SARP (Strong Axiom of Revealed Preference) but not WARP (Weak Axiom of Revealed Preference). As SARP extends WARP by additionally imposing transitivity on the revealed preference relation, this effectively defines the conditions under which transitivity adds bite to the empirical analysi...
We generalize the classical expected-utility criterion by weakening transitivity to Suzumura consistency. In the absence of full transitivity, reflexivity and completeness no longer follow as a consequence of the system of axioms employed and a richer class of rankings of probability distributions results. This class is characterized by means of standard expected-utility axioms in addition to S...
This article combines studies of transitivity and homophily in an empirical analysis of personal network integration. Using a national sample of individual’s personal networks, the paper reveals that transitivity Ž . explains a majority of cases of network integration with two important caveats: 1 recent work on networks and social structure points to important structural constraints on persona...
We present a graphical criterion for reading dependencies from the minimal directed independence map G of a graphoid p when G is a polytree and p satisfies composition and weak transitivity. We prove that the criterion is sound and complete. We argue that assuming composition and weak transitivity is not too restrictive.
Section 2. Then we present ProtoNet. ProtoNet is centered around the concept of homology transitivity. ProtoNet clusters protein sequences into a hierarchy based on sequence similarity and homology transitivity. Thus the hierarchy parallels the evolutionary history of these protein sequences. We then illustrate—using Histone proteins—the application of ProtoNet to detect remote protein relatives.
In this paper we propose a reconfiguration model based on switched flat system. The interest to have flat subsystems is to assure the property of transitivity. Transitivity is one the key points of a resilient system keeping the dependability. To reconfigure the system in the case of unexpected phenomena we use default logic.
Three experiments identified factors that did and did not enhance the formation of two-node four-member equivalence classes when training and testing were conducted with trials presented in a trace stimulus pairing two-response (SP2R) format. All trials contained two separately presented stimuli. Half of the trials, called within-class trials, contained stimuli from the same class while the oth...
