Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) is a clean and green technology for extracting polyphenols antioxidants from roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa) as nutraceutical ingredients high-value co-products development. To increase the SC-CO2 fluid affinity towards polar compounds, general regard safe (GRAS) solvent, ethanol-water was added in small amount modifier. Dry calyces were extracted using modif...

Eucalyptus bark contains significant amounts of triterpenoids with demonstrated bioactivity, namely triterpenic acids and their acetyl derivatives (ursolic, betulinic, oleanolic, betulonic, 3-acetylursolic, and 3-acetyloleanolic acids). In this work, the supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) of Eucalyptus globulus deciduous bark was carried out with pure and modified carbon dioxide to recover th...

The interest of the pharmaceutical industry in lipid drug delivery systems due to their prolonged release profile, biocompatibility, reduction of side effects, and so on is already known. However, conventional methods of preparation of these structures for their use and production in the pharmaceutical industry are difficult since these methods are usually multi-step and involve high amount of ...

The performances of ionic liquid (1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium-bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, IL/CPE) and iron phthalocyanine (IP/CPE) modified carbon paste electrodes in electroanalytical determinations of rutin were evaluated and compared to the performance of unmodified carbon paste electrode (CPE). Cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), differential pulse adsorpti...

Supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) has been evaluated as an extraction technique for the isotope-dilution quantification of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in a sediment sample. A high-resolution mass-spectrometric system equipped with a gas chromatograph was employed for the determination of seven target PCB congeners. The effect of the operation parameters on the SFE efficiency was investi...

In recent years, the use of supercritical fluids (SCFs) for the synthesis and processing of nanomaterials has proven to be a rapid, direct, and clean approach to develop nanomaterials and nanocomposites. The application of supercritical fluid technology can result in products (and processes) that are cleaner, less expensive, and of higher quality than those that are produced using conventional ...

Recent studies have shown that it is possible to electrodeposit a range of materials, such as Cu, Ag and Ge, from various supercritical fluids, including hydrofluorocarbons and mixtures of CO2 with suitable co-solvents. In this perspective we discuss the relatively new field of electrodeposition from supercritical fluids. The perspective focuses on some of the underlying physical chemistry and ...

A solid hydrazine was isolated as a crystalline powder by reacting aqueous hydrazine with supercritical CO(2). Its structure determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction shows a zwitterionic form of NH(3)(+)NHCO(2)(-). The solid hydrazine is remarkably stable but is as reactive as liquid hydrazine even in the absence of solvents.
