and Applied Analysis 3 It is shown in [19] that if E = H, a real Hilbert space, then ρ(t) = t, for t > 0. In our general setting, throughout this paper we assume that ρ(t) ≤ 2t. Lemma 3. Let E be a real Banach space. Then the following inequality holds: 󵄩󵄩󵄩󵄩x + y 󵄩󵄩󵄩󵄩 2 ≤ ‖x‖ 2 + ⟨y, j (x + y)⟩ , ∀x, y ∈ H, j (x + y) ∈ J (x + y) . (10) Lemma 4 (see [20]). Let E be a uniformly convex Banach spac...

In this paper, we introduce a one-step iterative scheme for finding a common fixed point of a finite family of multivalued quasi-nonexpansive mappings in a real uniformly convex Banach space. We establish weak and strong convergence theorems of the proposed iterative scheme under some appropriate conditions.

We introduce a modified Noor iteration scheme generated by an infinite family of strict pseudo-contractive mappings and prove the strong convergence theorems of the scheme in the framework of q−uniformly smooth and strictly convex Banach space. Results shown here are extensions and refinements of previously known results.

Some fixed point convergence properties are proved for compact and demicompact maps acting over closed, bounded and convex subsets of a real Hilbert space. We also show that for a generalized nonexpansive mapping in a uniformly convex Banach space the Ishikawa iterates converge to a fixed point. Finally, a convergence type result is established for multivalued contractive mappings acting on clo...

A Banach space has the weak fixed point property if its dual space has a weak∗ sequentially compact unit ball and the dual space satisfies the weak∗ uniform Kadec-Klee property; and it has the fixed point property if there exists ε > 0 such that, for every infinite subset A of the unit sphere of the dual space, A ∪ (−A) fails to be (2 − ε)-separated. In particular, E-convex Banach spaces, a cla...

We present fixed point theorems for a nonexpansive mapping from a closed convex subset of a uniformly convex Banach space into itself under some asymptotic contraction assumptions. They generalize results valid for bounded convex sets or asymptotically compact sets. In this note we generalize a famous result by Browder [3], Göhde [6] and Kirk [8], recently extended by Luc in [14], by using the ...

We work in set-theory without choice ZF. Denoting by AC(N) the countable axiom of choice, we show in ZF+AC(N) that the closed unit ball of a uniformly convex Banach space is compact in the convex topology (an alternative to the weak topology in ZF). We prove that this ball is (closely) convex-compact in the convex topology. Given a set I, a real number p ≥ 1 (resp. p = 0), and some closed subse...

We study the regret of an online learner playing a multi-round game in a Banach space B against an adversary that plays a convex function at each round. We characterize the minimax regret when the adversary plays linear functions in terms of the Rademacher type of the dual of B. The cases when the adversary plays bounded and uniformly convex functions respectively are also considered. Our resul...
